Coryell, of Orangeburg, was absent on account of sickness. Charles D. Newell, County Attorney, was present. Sheriff Porrine produced his receipts from the treasurors,of thb various courjty funds for taxes for year 1880, which were read and ordered filed as his quietus. Report of W; W. Ball, commissioner to settle county levy for year 1886, was read and ordered recorded. Reports ot Thomas A. Respess as Treasurer of the Sinking Fund, Treasurer and Receiver of Mason County, and Treasurer of the Infirmary Fund were read, received and ordered filed. Justices J. B. Burgess, James EarnBhaw and 0. W. Williams were appointed a committee to examine the accounts of Thomas A. Respess, as Treasuror of the various funds. Report of Garrott S. Wall, Treasurer of the Jail Sinking Fund, was filed and ordered recorded. Justices S. E. Mastin, J. M. Alexander and Robert Hunter wero appointed a committee to examine the accounts of same. Their report was afterwards filed and ordered recorded. The report of the committee to ex amine the accounts of Thomas A. Res pess, Treasurer of the various funds, was filed and ordered recorded. Reports of committees in whoso hands iunds were appropriated at last term of court, for the benefit of paupers, were filed as follows : W. J. Tully, committee of Rachael Tombs M. D. A ballot was taken and resulted in tho election of Ben D. Parry, for four years, the vote standing Parry 15, Respess 6 and Earnshaw 1, the latter vote being oast by mistake. The report of tho committee appointed at Inst Court of Claims to ascertain whether it is tho duty of the county or of the Kontucky Central Railroad Company to rebuild and keep in repair tho bridgo that crbsess said railroad on the lino of the. Washington . and .Orangeburg dirt road, was produced in court and' ordered filed and recorded. Tho report was that tho company, had rebuilt the bridge and acknowledged its liability to keep same in repair. On motion of 0. N. Weavor, seconded, by Jamoa Earnshaw, it was ordered that tho.OitiEen'a G&a L'ght Company at once make the necessary connection and fur nish gas for tho poanty court houso, clerks' offices and-jail at a rate not to ex ceed $1.50 per 1,000 cubic feet. This contract to continue for period of ten years from this date, tho Citizens' Gas Light Company' at no time' to charge the county a higher rato for gas. than it charges any other consumer. Tho report of Dr. A. G, Browning, jail physician, was filed and ordered recorded. Tho report shows that thoro has not beon "an epidemic, a case of contagious disoaso, an act of violence, a death, or so much as an accident " in the jail during tho past year. Tho rep ort adds that it ' 'is mainly to Mason County's jail and Jailer that the sick have gotten well, and that the well have kept bo," and commends "our authorities jmd our pooplMn gener ously providing an establishment bo ad mirably adapted in every way to not only the safe but entirely civilized keep ing of our Unruly clement." Mr. ChcosKiao was tho four hun dred and fifty-third person placed on the Mexican pension list. His claim dates back to January 20, 1887, and amounts to $8 a month for tho rest of his life. Tho contract to sink natural gas well hero has been let by the company, and we're going to bore that holo if "the earth does freeze up in the next fifty years." Tho contract waB awarded to R. W. Evans, who 1b sinking tho well at Vanceburg. Ho is to furnish everything and bore 1,200 feet for $2,500. If he goes deeper, ho is to bo paid $1 50 a foot for all bolow 1,200 feet, If the company wishes to Bink a second well he is to do tho work at $1.50 a foot He has ordered the machinery from Oleon, N. Y., and was to leave thoro yesterday for this city. Ho will commence work as soon as pos sible. Those of the stockholders who have not paid their calls are asked to do bo at once.
