denied the motion of counsel for
"Nan" Patterson asking for the dis
charge of the actress indicted for tho
murder of "Caesar" Young on her

Flour-Shipped to China.
San Francisco, Aug. 19. The Occi
dental and Oriental Steamship Doric
sailed for the Orient Thursday. Her
full cargo of 4,500 tons includes 2,000
tons of flour, 150 tons of pig lead and
a quantity of merchandise for Chlneso
ports.
Fatal Fall From a Train.
Philadelphia, Aug. 19. Mrs. Isabella
Frazier Leopold, a cousin of United
States Senator McComas, of Maryland,
and daughter of the late State Sena
tor Frazier, of Ohio, was killed Thurs
day by falling from a vestibule coach.
Supposed Kidnaped Boy Found.
New York, Aug. 19. Antonio Man
nino, the 10-year-old Brooklyn boy who
was thought to have been kidnaped by
members of the Italian Black Hand
society, was found early Friday morn
ing in Columbia street, three blocks
from his home.
Secretary of the Treasury Shaw.
Washington, Aug. 19. Secretary of
the Treasury Shaw, who is at Squir
rel Island, Me., with his family, -will
leave there Friday for Chicago to ar
range with the officials of the national
committee for his campaign tour.

gan, of Brooklyn, and Frankie Nlel,
of San Francisco, were matched here

land, chief clerk to the first assistant
postmaster general, has returned from
Atlantic City and will be acting first

Earthquakes Cause Damage.
Athens, Aug. 19. Earthquakes have
caused serious damages to several vil
lages in the Island of Samoa (in tho
Greek archipelago, G5 miles west of
Smyrna). Some of the Inhabitants
were killed.
