No definite action wa: taken, however. A committee from the Ketchikan Beer Dispenser’: Association, with Oscai Holland spokesman and in cluding William Robertsor and Ted Olsen, appeared be fore the council and askec hat beer halls be allowed tc stay open until 2 o’clock each morning instead of un til 1 o’clock. Following considerable discussion, the matter was referred to the police com mitte, with an understand ing reached to allow the re ciuesl until a full report has been made and action tak en. The change will involve drafting a new ordinance and the council declined tc act without allowing time for hearing others who maj I . , wish to have a voice in the matter. The licensers’ committee came to the meeting with » the idea of asking only an hour’s addition to their per mitted business time but the council seemed of the opinion that even more of ’ an adjustment was in ord 1 er. Councilmen expressed ' themselves as of the opin ' ion that restrictions that ‘ the beer halls were under 1 were defeated anyway, es pecially in the dispensing of liquors in restaurants which can stay open all night and to which night crowds resort after other places have closed.
