Weather Today (U. S. Weather Bureau) Unsettled weather with snow storms were general conditions over the Name-Fairbanks Airway at 7 a.m. Fa r weather obtains along the Gulf and southeastern Alaska. Rain was falling along the Oregon-Washington Coast.. Temperatures above the season al average continue over the in terior sections of Alaska while moderation has occurred during the past 24 hours over the Pacific Northwest. High barometric pressure is charted over the North Pacific ocean while low pressure overlies the Pacific Northwest, the Bering Sea and the Arctic Ocean district. This general pressure condition will likely cause continued un settled weather with snow squ alls for Nome and vicinity dur ing the next 24 hours. Mud tem perature with moderate north east winds are indicated. Ruby reported 50 inches of snow on the ground at 7 a.m. The lowest Nome temperature last night wras zero while the high est yesterday was 12 above. Water Ordinance Passed at Council Meeting Monday With Councilmen Polet ana O' Connor absent, the city council met Monday night in regular ses sion and took up various business matters coming before it. Councilman O'Connor has been suffering for the past month from a severe cold, and has been con fined to his bed for some time past. Several wires were received by the city from the Board of Liquor Control pertaining to relicensing of businesses dealing in liquor in Nome. They were read by the clerk. One wire requested city action on an application of Harry Saito for a license. The council disapproved. Another telegram requested action on an application of Tom Cloninger for a beverage dispensary license. The council approved same. The water ordinance was read for the third time and upon mo tion was endorsed and passed in to etfect immediately. The text of the ordinance appears else where in the Nugget today. A letter written by Supt. Cal vin Pool of the Nome Public Schools to the Nome school board was handed to the City Clerk to read by Chairman of the Board Aimer Rydeen. The letter re quested the Board to attempt to secure funds for the construction of an addition to the new school building to be used for vocational courses, a class room or two and storage space for much equip ment which at present takes up valuable room in the school build ing proper. The clerk read the letter and after discussion concerning the attitude of the city council to ward supporting a suggestion to appeal to the Territorial Legisla ture for the funds, it was decided that a meeting be held by the council with the school board Thursday at 2 P. M., to go over the plans. No amount was men tioned in the letter, as what sum would be needed.
