Bil l Y SOUTHWARD, OLD TIMER NOME AND KOT ZEM’E, PASSES AWAY According to a wire received yesteraay, befor his departure for Kotzebue. Deputy Marshal Henry Xvier was informed of the death at Kotzebue, of Billy South ward, former Nomeite and Kotze bue and Kobuk nnnging sections. Mr. Southward who had been in the Kotzebue hospital for the past week or two developed phn neuponia from which he never recovered. Billy Southward was one of those old sourdouhs of the early gold rush days to Nome, and later settled in the Kotzebue and Kobuk river section, still holding the confidence of his num erous friends, both republican & democratic, anti the end. A short program was followed by the distribution of gifts. Re freshments were served. The mothers were the guests of honor. On Christmas Day the Native Sisterhood and Bro'herhood will have a dinner in th school gym. Native dancing and games will complete the festivities for the evening. This year Deaconness Miss’ Pearl Woodfin announced that| between 22 and 25 singers wilP compose the choir. The choir will start out XmaSj Eve about 10 P. M. and travel by horse team and sled, thru the! courtesy of C. F. Yenney, about, town, stopping frequently in prominent places t render sev-' leral Christmas Carols. Besure and watch for them, as their music and spirit should not be overlooked—it‘s an unusually well perfected choir. Inquiry has been made for one Moses E. Strand, to whom funds have been left from an estate in Norway. If anyone knows who Moses E.
