ii JJjtWA&aJfc-iA THE COCONINO SUN. V J RECEIVER APPOINTED. The Santa Fe & Grand Canyon Railroad in the Hands of a Receiver. Tliu financial troubles of the Santa Fe & Grand Canyon Railroad Company have been finally brought Into the I'oiirt. On Monday a hearing; for an application for a receiver and also for an injunction restraining the parties in po-scssion of the railroad from Incur ring further Indebtedness in its opera tion, was heard before Judge Sloan in chambers at Preseott. I'M waul M. Doe of this place and Herndon ft Norris of Preseott repre sented R. R. Coleman, the contractor, and the Union Haul ware and Metal Company. Mr. Doe also represented the Saginaw & Manistee Lumber Com pany, the .J. M. Dennis Lumber Com pany, Arizona Central Hank, Poison Brothers, MavSal.uian and Derbyshire & Derbyshire. Neill H. Field repre sented the firm of E. J. Post .fc Co. of Albuquerque. T. J. Norton of the Santa Fe Pacilic Railroad Company represented the International Trust Company of Boston. K. E. Ell in wood represented the complainant, Thomas Hassford. On Tuesday .Judge Sloan appointed R I). (!age as the receiver of the prop erty. There wn no opposition to the appointment, all the parties in interest being satisfied with Mr. Gage. The receiver was instructed to take Immediate possession of the property and of all of its effects. The receiver is not to operate the road or incur any expenses in connection therewith without the order of the court, and witli that exception is fully authorized to manage and care for the property at his discretion. The receiver is further authorized to forthwith examine into the condition and surroundings of the property com mitted to his charge, the possibilities of Its operation without loss, and the probable amount of business which may be commanded in case he shall hereafter be authorized to operate the road under the direction of the court. The receiver is further empowered to received proposals for the operation of the road without expense to the re ceiver. All the parties In interest are satis lied with the order appointing a re ceiver. The expense of operation are cutoff, yet if the Santa Fe desires U operate the road it may do so, the re ceivership being no great expense to the holders. Drs.
