Miss Creola Block is recovering from a severe attack of fever. R. R. Gleason has purchased the residence property of Mrs. Mary Smith. Mrs. David Lewis suffered a double fracture of her right arm by an un lucky fall Monday. G. W. Martin of Williams, was in attendance at the meeting of the board of supervisors Monday. F. S. Broen returned Thursday from a business trip to the Grand Canyon and intermediate points. R. B. Burns, of Los Angeles, Santa Fe coast line engineer, was a Flag staff visitor Wednesday. Messrs. W. R. Johnson and Geo. Logic left Friday morning for a weeks visit to the Verde Valley. A. A. Fisher is homo again after an absence of several weeks spent at Denver, Albuquerque and other points. E. Harper King, of Whiteside, Pa., arrived hero Monday and will visit his sister, Mrs. C. F. Portz for several weeks. T. A. Gandee will enjoy a two month visit at his old home, Spencer, West Virginia. He left for that place Tuesday. E. H. Wagner, of Los Angeles, was here the first of the week and pur chased a bunch of cattle from Babbitt Brothers. Work is progressing nicely on E. S. Gosney's new bank building. The brick laying was commenced by the masons Thursday. Ed. Lockwood has purchased the residence property of George Black Jr. Mr. Black intends to move to California in the near future. John Steinmetz returned Monday from Leavenworth, Kansas, where he had been for several weeks attending his father during his last illness. Father Vabre was a Holbrook vis itor the first of the week and while there united in marriage Mr. Epemen io and Miss Filomena Garcia, both of Gallup. Mrs. C. A. Sowl left Thursday night with her two little daughters, for Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she will place the girls In school at the Loretto Academy. H. H. Watkins, manager of the Kingman branch of the Arizona Cen tral Bank, was in town yesterday. He was on his way to Clear Creek, In the southeastern part of this county, for a ten days hunting trip. ver thcMfeat thty wear Levi Strauss cOSs Copper-riveted Overalls, John H. Page, of Grand Canyon, was here this week and made a trip to Albuquerque. He exhibited some fine specimens of copper ore taken from the Canyon Copper mine. Dr. Wm. Rudd, of Springervllle, was a Flagstaff visitor the first of the week. Ho was accompanied by his daughter, Miss Ida, who will finish her course at the Northorn Arizona Normal. The service in the Presbyterian church on Sunday morning will be con ducted by Mr. F. C. Reld. There will be no service in the evening other than the meeting of the Young People's So ciety at 6:45. J. A. Knoblock was a Flagstaff visi tor yesterday. Mr. Knoblock has an extensive acreage of potatoes this year and is now making arrangements for digging. Ho says that the yield will be very good and quality first class. The following pupils of the fifth grade, grammar department, were neither absent or tardy during the month just ended: Ruth Baker, Marvino Francis, Laura Kinsoy, Cecil Schulz, Mabel Fairchild, Paul Aubi- neau, Georgo Dent, Cyrus Gilbert, Harry Hibben, Paul Kellar, Collis Mayflower, George Veit, Herman Deltz man, Chester Goldsborough and Ella Vail. Harry Hibben, A. A. Dutton and son, Robert Ferguson, Postmaster Coalter and son, J. Power, John Ver- Kamp, Judge Quinlan and J. W. Francis, of this city, composed a party of duck hunters at Mormon Lake this week. It is reported that Judge Quin lan failed to kill any ducks, but that he made a mess of biscuit that came near killing the entire party. They returned Thursday. The homo of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Switzerwas saddened Saturday by the death of their little son, Albert Offutt, aged 3 years, 7 months and 29 days, the eldest of their three children. Death resulted from spinal meningitis. He was a bright, lovable child and the parents have the sympathy of all in their affliction. The funeral was held from the residence, Monday, October 5, 1003, at 10 o'clock a. m. C. H. McClure, an old time and well known miner, returned this week from near Tonopab, Nev., where he has spent the past summer working In the placer diggings. He reports pros perous times in that section and says that the Los Angeles & Salt Lake railroad grading camps are lively places at present. The material will be run- over the Manvel branch of the Santa Fe to the intersection of the new road and the work pushed between that point and Barstow. On tomorrow at the Methodist church old folks' day will be observed at 11 o'clock a. m. The hymns and sermon will be appropriate to the oc casion. All the old folks who are not in attendance at the other churches are invited to be present. The Ep worth League la arranging to pro vide vehicles for those who have no facilities of their own and who are not able to walk to the services.
