The Miami mill, located in the eastern portion of this count-, was destroyed by fire, says the Silver 15elt on the 5th instant. The fire was dis covered by parties oa the outside, those inside being unconscious of the danger. The engine was running and tive of the stamps were in dotion. The flames spread rapidly and the buildinjj was soon reduced to ashes. The machinery is but slightly in jured, some parts however will be rendered useless, but will cost but lit tie to replace them. The burning severed the belting, and the heat pre venting the engineer to approach the cngiae, it soon attained such light ning speed as to break and throw the massive fly-wheel in every direction, one piece passing through, two walls of a saloon adjoining and a barrel of whisky; another piece was thrown a long distance, burying itself in the ground to a depth of five feet. The fire is supposed to have caught from bark and other inflammable material in front of the fire-doors, and almost immediately communicated to an ad jacent pile of dry cedar wood. The mill cost in the neighborhood of $(VJ 000, and was partially iiiMircd. The mill was to start on ore from ihe 3Iexican mine, with a view of dem onstrating to those who had coiu'i lionally purchased the mine thai the ore would woik to the figure repre sented. The test will now however be made at the Ilaskin mill, Globe city. Superintendent Flournoy of the Hannibal Silver Mining Company, in his report sas: "Development com menced fifteen months ago and vigor ously prosecuted until the want of water compelled a suspension. Steam hoisting works were erected aud a pump attached and operations resum ed last August. Since Jan. 1st, the company hare expended over $:57," 000, and as all the means are now ex hausted, rather than call on the stock holders for an assessment, a suspen sion of work is recommended until it is seen what developments are brought to light in the northeast :hh1 southwest extensions, these two claims being woiked with considera ble viijor at present. OTES. The new mill of the Stonewall Company is about read- to start. The 3Iay-day ball was quite a pleasant affair, a number couiiugover from Gklx. A few da-s since fi small fire was discovered iu Ihe kitchen of the Han nibal Company. It was extinguished before much damage was done. Prospecting is increasing and many promising prospects brought to light. Minei:.
