The steam thresher of TTni. A.
Hancock during five days of lust
week threshed 424.000 pound of
barley. It is claimed tiiat this is the
liiggest work done by a thresher in
the valley.
The U. S. Brewery has rcelved let
ters from Tucson, during the week
past, to supply that city with Phoenix
beer, as good beer cannot be made
there. It is the iotention of the U. S.
Brewery to make sufficient quanti
ties of beer to fill orders from that
section as well as from here.
Professor Joyce, will open a scientif
ic, classical and commercial school iu
the public school house on Mond.iv
June 16 1879. He teaches a thorough
course of academic branches includ
ing a practical class of commercial
husines and book keeping. He wiii
also open a night school for the teach
ing of the Spanish language.
B. D. Jones will be here and enter
tain the denizens of this place on
Saturday next. He assnres us that
