WOOLSEY Fell like a pall upon this community, and expressions of the deepest regret at the 'oss of one ot Arizona's oldest a.id most respected citizens are heard on all sides. I notice two of the solid mm of Phoenix in town to-dar, C. A. Luke and M. Wormser, both old Prescott- ites. The Citiaen gives the following list as the principal Arizona mines that are being developed by San Franei s capital : The Western Mining Company, which bought and haa so lergely de veloped the Contention, is wholly made up ai Ssa Francisco money and men. The splendid operations now going on in Ilershaw District under the im mediate superintendence of D. B. Gil lette, Jr, are promoted and paid for by San Francisco mining men. The great Silver Eing 13 aa Arizo na development, aided by San Fran cisco. It is true, in the first instance, San Francisco mining experts report ed against this property, but that did Arizona no harm for the mine was rich and larse, and is productive. The McMillen is a success and much San Francisco money has beeu put into it and Globe District mines and mills. The Peck, with all its quartz and legal mills, is a success, and while San Francisco people hare come into the organization and aided it, they do not seem to be the cause of its troub les. ' The Tiger development and its fine hoisting works and mill, are a result of friendly union of Arizona men and money with San Francisco men and their cash. The management is most ly dictated from San Francises, and not a word has yet been said against it, and it is believed to be a great sue cess. The Tip-Top mine and mill were bought and put in operation by San Francisco men and about $150,000 of their gold coin, and bullion is being shipped from there almost every we-k. The Golden Star mill is a good one and was built by Sao Francbco money. SEW MEXICO. Tiger. The raihoad is close upon Las Ve gas. Bernalillo county is still suffering from drought. Surveyor Gensral Atkinson is back from the east, but doesn't seem to have brought the machinery for the Cerrillos with him. The latest news in regard to Capt. Beyer's Indian fight is by no means flattering to the troops. Although the number of soldiers engaged is now reported at between 30 and CO only. still the number of the Indians has been proportionately reduced and is now placed at 8 men and 2 boys. Common report in Grant county say the trocps were iguomiuiouslv defeated. TELEGRAPHIC BREVITIES. The wheat crop of Kansas is a fail ure.
