The Comstoek mines -will pay no

Mary E. Sanford, aged twenty-two
years, was shot and fatally wounded
in ' New York last Sunday night by
her husband, John Sanford.
Rev. Herman Bisbee, pastor of the
Hawes Place Unitarian Church, Bos
ton, was taken ill after morning ser
vices Sunday, and died in two hours.
George Richardson, aged sixty-four,
while marking a target at a range at
Medford, Mass., on Saturday, was
shot dead by bis nephew,. Horace
Richardson.
The President has signed the com
mi'hionaof members of the Mississip
pi River Commission, and of John A.
Hunter to lie Chief Justice of the Su
preme Court of Utah.
There was a severe frost in some
portions of Upper Canada, Saturday.
In eastern parts, beans were killed
and potatoes in bloom cut dowu to
the ground.
The Golden Gate, the smallest
raft which ever attempted a trip
around the world, left Boston yester
day for City Point, whence she leaves
to day direct for Cape town, Africa.

murder of Robert Tremble in July,
1877, was executed in San Antonio,
Texas last Monday, in the jail cor
ridor, in he presence of witnes.-e-s
mostly pTiy.-ieians and reporters. He
declared himself inocent.
The expenditures to the present
time for the construction of the
