GANDIL IKES AFFIDAVIT PLUYERS CONTRIBUTED CHICAGO, Jan. 8. (JP)—Arnold “Chick” Gandil. banished White Sox first baseman, swore to an affidavit to the effect that almost every Sox player contributed $45 to buy four games from Detroit in 1917. He said he notified the Detroit players. They were paid for “easing up.” Because Gandil failed to appear Landis post poned the hearing of the 35 of the 37 players summoned to be present. Otto Sandvig was reelected as ' scribe. The meeting was held at the S. A. C. gymnasium following which all members adjourned to Fisher’s Cafe where a fine bean feed was enjoyed. new mikado [Nemos EN ROUTE TO SEWARD Ross Hale, superintendent of mo tive power, Alaska Railroad, who has been East inspecting the two new Mikido locomotives now en route to Seward from New' York via the Pan i ama Canal, is nowT in California, his former home, spending a few weks visiting old scenes prior to returning north. Mrs. Hale is accompaning her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Hale are expected to leave Seattle next w'eek for Seward. The massive engines were loaded on the S. S. Cape Kabon at New York and upon arrival at Seattle will, in all probability be transferred to one of the Alaska freighters. “THE STORM BREAKER” “The Storm Breaker,” Universal Jewel production starring House Pet ers, with a great supporting cast, will be screened at the Liberty Thea tre Sunday. It is a wonderful grip ping story of the clash of a domi neering man with the elements of nature and an equally strong-willed w'oman. “The Storm Breaker” is one of those rugged picture plays that House Peters does so well. The cast includes Nina Romano, in private life Mrs. Lou Tellegen, Ruth Clifford, Ray Hallor, Jere Austin, Lionel Bel more, Gertrude Claire, Ed. Brown, Emmett King, William J.
