THOMPSON AT JUNEAU; CON
VENTION IN SEPTEMBER
The American Legion and its Aux
iliary will hold its National Annual
Convention in Paris, France in Sept
ember from the 19th to the 24th.
The prime purpose of this Paris con
vention is to make an impressive in
ternatior ; pilgrimage to the graves
of their ( -rurades and to the scenes
of the struggle which gave birth to
«
the organization in order that the
sacrifices which brought peace may
be recalled to public memory, and
t.hreby the ties of good will for the
maintainance of international friend
ship and understanding may be
strengthened.
This is a stupendous undertaking
but the details have been carefully
worked out by the National Officers
of The American Legion at Indiana
polis. The magnitude of such an
undertaking may be realized, as not
only the Legion members are eligi
ble, but also members of the Ameri
can Legion Auxiliary, the Forty tnd
Eight, the Bed Cross, Y. M. C. A.,
Y. W. C. xl., American Library Asso
ciation, Salvation Army, Knights of
Columbus and the Jewish Welfare
Board war workers. The final date
for making convention reservations
is May 15, 1927.
Each State and Territory is being
managed by a Department of France
Convention Officer, who handles all
details for his respective district.
The D. F. C. O. for Alaska is H. J.
Thompson at Juneau. Thus for there
are 12 or 15 Alaskans who will at
tend the convention.
