BRITAIN FORMALLY DEMIDS THE RIGHT HAVE URGE FLEET NEGOTIATIONS NOW STRAINED ALMOST TO THE BREAKING POINT GENEVA, July 12. (TP)—With Great Britain and Japan deadlocked and standing pat on their cruiser tonnage demands, the fate of the three power arms limitation conference is hang ing in balance and will probably be determined one way or other at Fri day’s meeting of the executive com mittee. The Japanese delegation showed great determination, clinging to the IT. S. demands for limiting Great Britains cruiser strength to 250,000 tons minimum figure set by the United States. Great Britain was equally persistent in its claims for 560,000, the tonnage allotment claim ed necessary for adequate protection of its far flung empire. The United States made a final proposal to reach a compromise. Each nation under the new proposal would be allowed 18 boats of ten thousand tons and other cruisers of unnamed tonnage totalling 220,000 tons. The outcome] of the conference depends on Great Britains willingness to accept the compromise figure. If a refusal is made, the conference will probably adjourn. It was considered likely that Great Britain would present a new compromise of its own manu-1 facture, Friday. VATICAN SCORES SUICIDES ROME, July 12.
