Order a ton | , today. = HEALY RIVER COAL CORK I NEED OF POSTOFFICE I , I - The march of time and progress has meant nothing to the Herendeen bay country, reports Prank Osborn, old.timer from that district who ar rived on the S. S. Starr a few days ago. There are about 10 people in that particular area, he said, and the nearest post office is 40 miles away on Popoff Island, near Unga. It is . due to this fact that there are not more settlers there, he stated, for it is a splendid trapping country. When asked as to a possible location for a post office Mr. Osborn said there were three points that might be de sirable, Port Holler, the P. A. Can nery, or at the head of Herendeen bay. The latter point in particular j is probably the best location. As the steamer Starr, during the summer months, steams past Heren deen bay, it would seem that it should not be a difficult task to drop mail off, but in the winter time when no boats ply the waters of Bristol bay, the mail must then be sent over land from Sand Point to Balboa, a distance of IS miles, and I then another nine miles portage to ; the bay. i "PARIS" VIVID EXODIC tile'of great appeal Take a few thrills—a <bit of eerie atmosphere—and add about twice the amount of laughs—and you have a great photoplay success. At least, this is Edmund Goulding’s formula—and the result is seen at the Liberty theatre in “Paris”. it’s a Parisian night’s entertain ment—one can’t exactly call it a com edy despite all its laughs—because there is a good deal of vivid and gripping drama in i/ too—and its not exactly a thriller despite its thrills. It’s just entertainment—and novelty. Charles Ray forsakes the country boy roles that made him famous, and swashbuckles through a modern D’Artaguan role as an American tourist out for a good time in a dress suit—and enmeshed in a plot of the Apaches of the underworld. Joan Crawford plays a fiery* Apache maiden with whom he falls in love—to drawr the fire of the whole underworld, until the police reserves have to come out and save him. Ray plays his role with a de lightful sang-froid that casts a new light on the versatility of this noted actor. 'Mr. Groth will teach manual training and general high school work for the half dozen or so pupils who are ready to enter high school. Mrs. Lien, who taught the :hr.id and fourth grades last year, will again assume the same position. It might be added that every mem ber of the faculty is residing in the mtv and not at the home where the majority lived last year.
