INLET REPUBLICANS HIVE MEETING INDORSE MINT CINDIDITES PRIMARY Indorsement of candidates who will seek nomination in the April primar ies was the principal order of busi netss before the meeting of the Third Divisional Republican Club of Anch orage at Anchorage a few days ago reports the Anchorage Times. Upon motion of Divisional Commit teeman A. G. Thompson, the club gave unanimous indorsement to the candidacy of Dan Sutherland to suc ceed himself as delegate fo Congress from Alaska. Next came the indorsement of El hvyn Swetmann, Seward druggest, who will seek nomination as a candi date for the fower branch of the Ter ritorial legislature. This also was* unanimous. With regard to the can dacy of Gus Borgan of Seward, an nounced and supported by the Seward Republican Club, it was pointed out I that inasmuch as the Anchorage Club previously had voted to indorse Chas. Goodall of Cordova, it could not con sistently back Mr. Borgen. In giving expression to preference for-local candidates for the Territor ial House, the members voted by bal lot, with the result that L. D. Roach and J. N. McCain were indorsed and both pledged themselves to support the platform of the local club. In addition to the tw'o candidates indorsed, the club considered the names of three others whose candi dacy had been announced—P. J. Me-1 j Donald, Harry G. Seller and J. J., I Bugge. As a result of the action of j I the club neither Mr. McDonald nor j | Mr. Seller will seek nomination but; will give their support to the club’s ! candidates. Mr. Bugge was not pres ent at the meeting and it is not known what action will be taken by him. Announcement of the candidacy of J. L. Waller, pioneer Anchorage at torney. for the republican nomination for attorney general, was made at a i meeting. The club also indorsed Charles Goodall of Cordova, who will seek the 'republican nomination as candidate ■for the Senate, and William Phinn, al ! so of Cordova, who will enter the pri j maries as a republican candidate for ' nomination for the krwer branch of the legislature. At least 11 Anchorage boys and one girl are making a cleanup in trapping near the Inlet city this winter. Todate it is said their catch amounts to S500. Send the Weekly Gateway home.
