tion found attached to the body of
Khassumob, chairman of the Cau
casian Soviet, recently murdered by
counter revolutionists.
This is one of the growing num
ber of the terrorist acts against So
viet officials in various parts of
Russia reported in the press of the
border states.
Another official who has fallen
a victim of anti-Bolshevik terror
ists, is Lomanov, an important of
ficer of the Ogpu, political police,
who played a prominent part under
Dzerzhinsky and has been mur
dered in the vicinity of Moscow.

SOUTHAMPTON, Eng., Dec., 23,
(JP)—A verdict of suicide while of
unsound mind was returned by a
coroner’s jury investigating the
death of Phoebe Sorel, formerly of
New York, who was found wounded
in her cabin aboard the SS Astur
ias two weeks ago. She died later.
47 CONVICTED
MOSCOW, Dec, 23, (A5)—Forty
seven of the 86 men on trial for
“systematic embezzlement” of bread
were convicted. Ten were sen
tenced to 10 years in jail each, 30
to six years in jail, four to five
years and the others to minor
terms.

is described as a new elastic and
strong synthetic material having

soluble in gasoline or oil. Crash
proof tanks are essential to present
day aircraft to prevent fires in ac
