(JP)—Five of the richest families in the United States lost a hundred million dol lars during 1931 because of the de preciation of railroad securities, ac cording to estimates of E. E. Laufer, statistician for Louchein, Minton & Company, brokers. The families are the Vanderbilts, Bakers, Harknesses, James and Harrimans. The losses are compu tated on the theory that holdings are still as large as they were at the beginning of the year.
