Some say gold mining is a gamble. If so, our entire business and monetary system is built on gambling. We must have gold! But gold comes from only one source; it has never come from any other source than gold mines. There is a greater profit to be made in gold mining today than ever before, for there is a crying need for gold. It must come from the gold mines. Those who produce gold have a wonderful opportunity to profit enormously. Gold is the soundest investment today. If there is nothing else open, the prohibitionists might be set to work baling the Mississippi. Japan says it is exerting its best efforts towards dis armament. But their methods are tough on the Chinese. The railroads are crying for a new deal. They might start by changing in the stacks of blues and yellows doled out to officials and scattering a few white checks among the stockholders. Diogenes was content with a tub. So are Americans, on Saturday’s. President Pioosevelt has again demonstrated that where there’s a will there’s a way. The Palmer Creek road was recently worked over its entire length and again ?s in excellent shape. Letters received in Seward from Frank Lawson, formerly with the Anchorage Daily Times and the Seward Gateway mechanical staffs, and now with the United States Geological Survey ship Pioneer, states that he is still “kicking the gong around” even though he just missed death in the California earthquake. The Pioneer is surveying out of Long Beach and for some time has been working on the southern side af Catalina lUsland. Frank says the Pioneer will probably go into drydock at Mare Island in July. After that the ship will probably go to San Francisco. Frank sends his regards to his many Alaskan friends.
