MIKE DONLIN DIED HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Sept. 26,— ! Mike Donlin, famous baseball figure and with the New York ■ Giants from 1904 to 1910, died, from a heart attack. He was 56 years old. We call for and deliver Phone Main 148 Alaska Fishermen Being Organized Benefit Of All Because the Bristol Bay, Kodiak Cordova and other areas of fishing I interests are similar, it is no more j than proper that Seward, Cook In let and other fishing districts should unite for the benefit ol the whole, says Harry Lander, i of Kodiak, temporary secretary oi the fishermen’s organization now | in process of formation. Mr. Lander arrived in Seward I from Cordova where initial organ j ization was carried through suc cessfully. When completed, it is estimated the organization will comprise at least 2,000 members; from Cordova to Bristol Bay. It is planned to hold a conven , lion at Kodiak on November 1, if that date is convenient to all con cerned. At this convention, all lo cals, represented by delegates, will have a voice and it is anticipated details and the many ramifica tions of the new organization will be worked out to the satisfaction of all. “Wonderful results have been ob tained thus far,” Mr. Lander re ports, “and I am confident it will continue that way. Mass organi zation is what we want; each lo cal would govern itself.” Wednesday evening, at 8, Mr. Lander will meet with fishermen in Odd Fellows Hall at which time, following discussions, the Seward branch will be formed. Edwin Sandbeck. for years an associate editor of The Gateway, has decided to go to work and to morrow joins the local B. P. R. road crew working near Grouse Lake. Ed will handle the short end of a number “two,” sometimes called a “banjo” but more famil iarly known as a shovel. FOURTH STRAIGHT BUFAFLO, Sept. 26, —The “Bi sons’ took their fourth straight game from the Rochester Red wings, capturing the Internation al League crown. Twelve to 15 people were in at tendance at the auction, conduct ed by Attorney E. P. Harwood. The house and lot were pur chased by Jas. Clinton; the auto mobile* by Mrs. J. Hughes. Henry Roden, prominent Juneau lawyer, left on the Yukon Monday for his Jueau offices.
