HARRINGTON AIRPORT NEWS 1 The Breakfast Flight to Green ! Run Lodge, about 17 miles south- i east of Ocean City, Md., was en- ' joyed by the following air-minded youngsters: Howard Lyons in his Cessna, piloted by Jerome Howard) % of Federalsburg, Md.; Lloyd Car-' ter, president of Milford Aero Club, who was accompanied by Miss Bet • ty Jo Watson, in the Aeronca Chief, ! owned by the club; Fred Greenly, Jr., Dick Wales, Paul Porter and Atlee Link in the two Aeronca Champions owned by the airport. On Monday, Atlee B. Link, man ager of Harrington Airport, Inc., ; together with Dick Wales, one of the airport instructors, flew to Boulevard Airport, Inc., Philadel-1 phia, to take a delivery of a new - Aeronca 85-horse power Super} Chief. Link says. "This is the fly ingest two-place airplane I have ever flown and climbs faster than any plane in its horse-power class." '■ This plane will be used mainly for ' student instruction and cross \ country flights. The Bellanca "Cruisair" on July ' 3 made two flights to Roosevelt Raceway landing at nearby Roos evelt Field, a stone's throw from ! the track. The fastest leg of the four one-way trips was one hour and fifteen minutes, demonstrating the utility of this new service and saved the sportsmen many hours of tedious travel by train or car. The plane, piloted by Joe C. Jenk ins of Wyoming, carried the fol lowing local citizens: Pete Shaw, < Jr., Billy James. Calvin Simpson, Russell Kirby, Ernest Killen and 9 Mr. Brown. On Sunday, July 6, Fred Greenly, Jr., flew to Poco moke City in the "Cruisair" with Atlee Link. Later the same day the "Cruisair" made several trips to Rekoboth. one trip carrying Ed-j ward McCormick of Wilmington. ^ Lin and Jenkins, who returned to the field after having dinner at the I shore. On Thursday. Miss Sandy Saun ders, instructor at Pan-Maryland Flying School, Baltimore Municipal Airport and one of her students flew an Aeronca Champion in on a dual cross-country fight. Saturday morning, Robert Bail-1 ey of Philadelphia, and his Lovett! Ffcdd, Elkton, Md., instructor, stopped in on U dual -cross-country flight. Bailey returned in the af ternoon on his solo cross-country trip. A new Piper Super Cruiser, recently purchased by Bailey was used on both flights. I. M. Lambertson. Delmarva Air port. Salisbury, flew a Piper Cub in on his solo cross-country flight on Saturday. Sunday. Dan LaCroux, in an Aeronca Chief and Jimmy Masten in an Aeronca Champion flew in I from Bridgeport, N. J., Airport, î Jamer Hamilton of Chester. Pa., j arrived In a Stearman By-plane. Hamilton had visited his brother farm near Harrington and ■ on a came in to refuel. Benjamin Roland, a student un ; der the O. I. Flight Training Plan, made his first solo flight on Sun I day. Harrington Airport. Inc., deliv ered an Aeronca Champion to i George Bishop of Goldsboro, Md., and Glen Spiering of Greensboro, learning to fly. Md. Spiering is Bishop, who has his private cense, said: "Now when I or my farm neighbors need parts for machinery in a hurry, we can fly after them instead of having wait so long to get them.
