The next move before the equip j ment arrives, will be a conference at the airport with a representative of the bureau who will inspect pos- i sible sites for the station. In Washington, W. F. McDonald, assistant U. S. Weather Bureau chief announced: 'The President has signed the 1 Commerce Department appropria tion bill which includes funds for ! establishing this station. "All of our technical equipment is on hand and we can take that al most immediately to Delaware. ! Then there is the matter of assign ing the trained personnel, which I I we are prepared to do." ! Need for a weather station at the j airport has been expressed repeat j edly in Washington by Senators C. i Douglass Buck and John J. Wil-j liams and Rep. J. Caleb Boggs. When the war ended and the val uable equipment used at the port by the Second Ferrying Group was be ing dismantled an effort was made.' Jed by the Chamber of Commerce, to have the weather bureau retained. This failed and was not revived. j But through the efforts of the I congressional delegation the U. S. Weather Bureau made a prelimin ary survey here and has now agreed that the need for the facility is ob vious. Mr. Martin said that there is available for the station and snace that an effort would be made to lo cate it in the same terminal build ing that will bouse offices of the Trans-World Airlines and Ameri can Airlines.
