At a joint meeting of die Whig mem bers of the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the United Stales, held in the Senate Chninher on Saturday evening, the 18th February, 1843, lor the purpose of considering the propriety of holding a Na tional Convention to nominate candidate» to he supported by die Whig party at the next election of President and Vice Presi dent of the United Slates, Richard 11. Bay ard, of Delaware, and Alexander H. H. Stuart, of Virginia, and John C. Clark, of New York, appointed Secretaries. Mr. Tallmadge, of New York, on be half of called to the Chair, joint committee appointed at a previous meeting to consider what measures should he adopted, made a report, which, having been discussed and amended, was unanimously adopted.
