commence this morning when Chas A Choate will take the half dozen or more trunks filled wifih city ordinances and papers to one of the rooms In the fire headquarters building on Garden street and com mence the hunt 1 Mr Choate was yesterday appoint ed by the water committee to begin the search for the document or rath er to index and classify all city rec ords and keep an eye out for the wai t I company franchise If the fran chise is found it will prove whether or notthe records of the city contain ed in the minutes of the meeting have been falsified i There was no suitable place where the work could be done around the city hall so it was decided to take the many trunks to one or the vacant rooms In the second story of the fire headquarters building where Mr I Choate could work conveniently and without interruption The employing of some party to in dex and classify the records was au thorize at a recent meeting of the city council but It will require many weeks to complete fhe work i I IMPORTANT MEETING OF ESCAMBIA RIFLES TO BE HELD An important meeting of the Es cambia Rifles will be held tonight at the armory when matters of much interest to the command will be con sidered The company has been recruited to the full strength allowed by the law I and frirthermore the members are taking much interest In the drills I The growth of the company during the past year has been something which could hardly have been expect ed When Captain Landrum assumed command the membership was small but little interest being taken and the command deep in debt Now the company Is recruited to its full strength much interest shown In every meeting and with a nice surplus in the treasury HOOK AND LADDER TRUCK WILL GO INTO COMMISSION I The hook and ladder truck which has been unanimous Hon W A Shelby one of the old county commissioners appeared be fore the board with a request for the opening of a road from Beulah through Cantonement The old board he said had granted the right of way and he had opened that portion bf it lying in his district but the other part had not yet ben opened The matter was referred to Commissioner Wiggins I The board discussed in an informal i way the matter of road building and Commissioner Andrews took occasion to announce that he expected some roads to be built down in his district so as to connect the settlement below the navy yard with
