INTERESTING BOOK ABOUT
V OVERLAND TRAIL V
In the early days when the gold
seekers flocked to San Francisco
across the Isthmus around the Horn
or across tae old wagon trail lead
ing from the Missouri to the Golden
Gate it is said that a Dutch land
lord in San Francisco greeted his
guests with the query Did you come I
the Horn around the Isthmus across
or the land over I
Through some such distinction from
the water ways the Overland Trail
came by its name and today the rail
road that succeeded it is known every
where as the Overland RoUte
The story of this picturesque old
tranecontinental highway 2000 miles
in length from the day when the pio
neer of old threaded his way through
the wilderness down to the driving of
the golden spike which completed
Americas first overland railroad has
been sketched in a book issued by
the Union Pacific and Southern Pa
cific passenger departments
V The Overland Route to the Road
of a Thousand Wonders it is called
Profusely illustrated It tells how ad
venturers hardy pioneers goldseak
ers and Mormons on their way to the
land ot promise all traveled this road
and how later the pony express and
the Overland stage made their long
and hazardous journeys over the trail
now covered by train in off hours
Aside from the romance of the old I
trails story many interesting fea
tures are brought out in relation of
how the first Overland railroad v is
built It is declared that an arrow
was shot for every spike driven In I
brushes with Indians as the work I
slowly advanced The book can be

V FOUND OUT
A Trained Nurse Discovered Its
Effect
No one is in better position to know
the value of food and drink than a
trained nurse
Speaking of coffee a nurse of
Wilkesbarro Pa writes I used to
drink strong coffee myself and suf
fered greatly from headaches and In
digestion V
While on a visit to my brothers I
had a good chance to try Postum for
they drank it altogether in place of
ordinary coffee After using Postum
two weeks I found I was much bene
fited and finally my headaches disap
peared aId also the indigestion
Naturally I have since used Postum
I among my patients and have noticed
a marked benefit where coffee has
been left off and Postum used
I observe a curious fact about
Postum used among mothers It
greatly helps the flow of milk in cases
where coffee is inclined to dry it up I
and where tea causes necvousness
I find trouble in getting servants
to make Postum properly They most
always serve it before it has been
boiled long enough It should be boiled
15 or 20 minutes after boiling begins
and served with cream then it is cer
tainly a delicious beverage
