Several delegates will be sent by
the Student T. M. C A. to the Georgia
and Florida T. M. C A. Convention,
which will be held in Jacksonville, be
ginning the last of this week. It Is
to be hoped that aU the colleges of
the state win be represented, as this
phase of college life Is second to none
in Importance, and such conventions
tend to stimulate the religious activity
of the leaders, and through them, of
the whole association. 1
Professor Chapman, who has been
conducting classes In Oratory, and
publlo speaking, has arranged for a
recital to show the progress made by
his students. This will be given on
Friday evening and will be for the
benefit of the Athletic Association..
Dr. John A. Thackston has been In
vited to deliver the graduating address
at the Commencement Exercises of th
Tampa High School, and has accepted.
Governor A. "W. Gilchrist has ap
pointed President A. A. Murphree as
a delegate to the Third National Peace
Conference, to be held In Baltimore

large number of Pensacola people are
recognizing the need of such an insti
tution n the city, and the idea that
young 'women need protection and de
velopment as much if not more than
young men Is one which is a very
practical argument for the new asso
ciation. YOU SHOULD KNOW
THAT
Spirits of camphor, if applied in
time to the spot, will prevent the de
velopment of cold sores. A drop or
more 'should be put on every hour at
least through the day and after twenty-four
hours the trouble as a rule has
disappeared.
A nervous habit of wetting the lips
with the tongue Is one that should be
controlled, not only because it is un
attractive but that it dries the skin
and causes chapping. A decidedly
wise precaution in any case is to put
a little grease on the mouth before
going out of doors. If one tinted red
Is used it will not be noticeable, if a
superfluous quantity Is wiped off with
a soft cloth.
Cornmeal porridge and milk Is a
nourishing and altogether a wholesome
food, if the liability to swallow I:
without much mastication be avoided,
especially when there is a tendency to
constipation. The porridge should be
made thick, boiled for ten minutes In
& double boiler and finished by four or
five hours in the flreless cooker, when
It should be solid, inducing mastica
tion more than thin wheat prepara
tions. Cornmeal can be ground from
the cob on a common grater, bat care
should be taken not to grind so close
as to Include pieces of the cob. A
fresh, coarser, more wholesome meal
can be made in this city, which, if
cooked long and slowly and thoroughly
masticated, Is preferable to any other
cereal preparation. i '
Hair tonics should not be bought and
applied at random. It is a wise pre
caution to Inquire the principal Ingre
dients of any preparation applied to
the hair or scalp. While some of the

Cincinnati, March' 18. The confer
ence here tonight between officials of
the Brotherhood of Locomotive Fire
men and' Enginemen adjourned with
out any definite announcement regard
ing the ending of the strike of white
firemen on the Cincinnati Southern
road.
The most important move taken by
the railroad was announced today,
when the embargo which had been
placed ' on - freight ' from Cincinnati to
Chattanooga was lifted from Somerset
to Cincinnati and Oakdale to Chatta
nooga. This leaves a strip from Oak
dale to Somerset still under the em

THREE SONS OF MINISTER
ARE BURNED TO DEATH

Hazleton, Pa., March 18. Three sons
of John Gallaus, a minister, were
burned to death early today in a fire
that destroyed the Gallaus home at
Honeybrook, Pa. The victims were
asleep on the , second floor and could
not escape.

DeFunlak, March 18. Dr. George
Summey of New Orleans, La, has been
conducting the morning devotional
hour at the Florida Chautauqua dur
ing the past week. This Is Dr. Sum
may's fifth appearance at the Chau
tauqua at DeFunlak Springs and he
has always handlel new and Interest
ing topics. The field covered this sea
son was one rarely touched upon by
writers dealing with that period be
tween the Old and New Testament.
There Is essentially a gap between the
Old Scriptural Revelation and the New
Testament Fulfilment, and Dr. Sum
mey filled In this gap in a wonderful
manner. Dr. Summey la one of the
strongest Biblical teachers In our land,
and his morning hours have been
largely attended.
Dr. Geizel of Battle Creek, Mich,
was on the platform In the afternoon.
She carefully outlined the work to be
accomplished by her school of health
and home nursing the coming week.

Lawyers Spoiled the Case.
Several lawyers were discussing the
United States secret service the other
day In the marshal's office In the fed
eral building. Much that they said
was directed at a quiet but capable
deputy marshal, who took it In silence
until he got an opportunity to counter.
The most persistent of his tormentors
began to tell of a counterfeiting case
where the severity of the government
put a "good fellow la Jail.
"Well, It was different In my coun
try, exclaimed the deputy marshal,
breaking into the confab.
"We had the evidence on the fellow
all right, he continued. "lie had
made about a peck of silver dollars.
The only 'difference between his
product and Uncle Sam's was that the
counterfeiter put a couple more grains
of silver In his. He got away with it
for months and when we began to col
lect evidence we had bags full of the
"phony dollars. When the man was
