In company with General Manager Llllard, of the Interstate Fair Asso ciation, a representative of The Jour nal went over the fair grounds at Kupfrian Park yesterday afternoon, where preparations for the holding of the fair are in progress. Things are assuming a very buslnese-like appear ance at that place and much work will be done there during the few weeks Intervening between now and the opening of the fair. One of the biggest Improvements made since the last fair and one of the most noticeable is the enclosing of the grounds. One hundred and sixty acres have been enclosed under a fenoe which extends all the way around the fair grounds, adding much to the ap pearance of the grounds as well as making it more difficult for any who might attempt to beat their way Into the grounds. The large agricultural building. Just east of the woman's bulldlne. has been completed and Is a commodious and convenient structure. The building to be occupied by the general manager for an office Is In the course of con struction and will be ready for occu pancy within a few days. The streets have been laid off and the concessions sold have been staked off and marked and many other Improvements were noted. i COfiYlfi BACK FROil1 'EIAIfPHT ARRIVED YESTERDAY AT 12i45 ON 8PECIAL TRAIN FROM JACK SONVILLE UNDER COMMAND OF LIEUTS. LURTON AND LUSK ENJOYED TRIP. Under the command of Lieutenants Lurton and Lusk, the members of company M, arrived here yesterday at 12:45 on a special train from Camp Fleming, where they have been for the past ten days attending the state en campment Capt. Acker did not ac company the company on the return trip, having stopped over in Jackson vllle for a few days. Although the boys were somewhat tired and dusty from the long trip and were giaa to get back home, they re port a very pleasant time and seem to have enjoyed the trip very much. Al though the youngest In the state, com pany M made a splendid showing and the members were the recipients of many flattering compliments upon the creditable manner in which they ac quitted themselves. Oapt. Acker and Lieutenants Lurton and Lusk deserve much credit for the splendid military company they have formed out of raw material within the past few months, and the members deserve praise for the interest they have taken In developing the com pany. TEACHERS Yie.A.IET FORCE OF EDUCATIONAL DE PARTMENT MEET AND DISCUSS PLANS FOR THE APPROACHING SEASON. The teachlnar force of the educa tional department of the Y. M. C. A.1 met at an Informal tea last evening and lined up the plan of work forhe coming season. In the T. M. C. A. everythlg is second to the boy himself and methods and text books all have to meet the test of their adaptabiliy to the need of the boy who is at work and needs a better education. The two-fold work of the educa tional department was discussed; first, to encourage boys to stay In school or to return to school, and second, to provide adequate training for boys who cannot attend until the public school shall be able to meet Its full possible function In the community. Emphasis was laid upon the work of character building through teacher leadership, the opportunities for cor rective work through the physical de partment were presented, the necessity for guidance of the boy into his life work was shown, and in all the best method of reaching the boy to accom plish the bet results for himself and the community were fuliy gone Into.
