There "was no sess'on of the court of record yesterday, ihere being noth ing docketed for trial during the day. All cases which had been set for yes terday was settled, either by the de fendants pleading guilty the day be fore or else the cases being continued. M Mary Holmes, the little girl residing on West Main street, who. suffered in juries in being run down by an au tomobile, will be able to be out to day, and it is possible, that either this morning or early next week the case against AVilburn Jonev, driver of the automobile which ran down tho little victim, will be called in the recorder's court. It is understood that the lady who owned the automobile, and who was herself a passenger at the time, 5 anxious that the case be called. The chauffeur is said to have been not to blame in the matter. Police Quarrel is Given Airing Before Public Continued from First rage.1 rn a number of different matters, it was this witness who accosted Chief Sanders with an inquiry relative to the "message," which caused the trouble- but he said he was asking the hief for the truth of and meaning for the message. It was while the chief was talking to him that Cusachs came along and was accosted by the chief concerning the message delivered to Tohnson. Things happened thick and fast then, for one lie was passed, then another, and then some bad language, which each of the near-at-hanJ wit nesses seem to have heard differently, for practically none of them testified exactly to the same word?. Chief Sanders and Captain Cusachs each made a statement to the board and then the mayor made his an nouncement. Mayor Greenhut and Commissioners Tou and Johnson made up the "trial" court. City Clerk F.ggart and the as sistant clerk were on hand, the former to administer oath to witnesses, and the latter to take down the testimony ln short hand. The hearing lasted exactly thirty five minutes. WHEELER WILL OT SERVE 0 RESERVE! BV ASSOCIATED "PRESS. ashington. May 13. Harry A. i Wheeler, of Chicago, vice-president of the Continental Trust Company, has declined a membership upon the gen eral reserve board. President Wilson has received a letter from Mr. Wheeler expressing his regret that he is un able to accept the appointment re cently offered him because of business connections which he cannot sever. The president now has two positions to till on tho board. Dr. Adolph C. Miller, of San Francisco, Paul M. Warburg, of New York City, and W. I'. G. Harding, of Birmingham. Ala., have all accepted. Besides selecting ! two more men. the president must designate one of tiiem as governor and another as vice-governor. He is canvassing again the list of 150 names which was before him when he made his tirst choioes. He in anxious now to select some one from the middle west, Chicago or St. Bonis, and some one from New England, to preserve a geographical balance on the board. One of the two to be selected will be a Republican. The president is not expected to decide finally for another week on the other two. It is unlikely that the first names will be sent to the senate until the list is completed. The White House was silent as to men who are uppermost in the presi dent's mind. Removal Sale !
