The selling movement appeared to be stimulated by reports that spots were offered freelv in the Southwest and there ern hedging. First prices were 11 to 20 points lower in consequence, with the market selling off to 2S cents for October and 22.96 for Januany after the call. Covering was active around the 2.3 cent level however a rallies of a few points followed. The covering inspired by the break to 22 1-2 cents seemed to have run its course on a rally of 15 or 20 points and the market showed re newed weakness during the after noon. Liquidation of old long lines fas active, there was continued sell ing for Southern accounts and sellers penerallv were aggressive. October broke to' 22 25 and January 22.28 with active months showing net losses of Oct.-Nov. 16.70; Dec-Jan. 16.15; Jan - Feb. 16 05. CORN ADVANCES Chicago. Aug. 24.
