Senator Turnbull moved for the recommitment of the bill because he said only a legal matter was in volved. Representative Amos Lewis' pure marriagre license which precipitated considerable debate in the house and has been thoroughly discussed " in this correspondence, passed the senate after an omendment ty Senator Stokes had been adopted providing: that no county judge shall issue a license to marry unless the contracting parties, if under age, pre sent a written permission from parents! or guardians, the same to be ackonwl edged before a notery or other person qualified to take acknowledgements. He stated that theneed for such provision had been shown to hin T through several cases of minor girls j marrying men without permission. which had come to his notice while ne was state attornev. He wanted t-j protect young girls from this kind of thing, he said. The Lewis Dill pro vides that all . licenses shall be issued from the county Judges office in tha county where the ceremony is perform ed and prohibits the signing and send other officials permitted to perform ing out in blank marriage licenses to wedding ceremonies.
