The report of the committee on resolutions was read by Mrs. Lois K. Mayes vt the Pensacola Journal. So ap propriate to the occasion and so strong in jatriotism was the-wording that a mo ( tlon was unanimously adopted asking the ' secretary to immediately furnish copies 1o the press of Florida for early publication. Attention was called-to the unusual circumstances attending the 1919 meeting of the Florida Press association, the most notable being the absence of Secretary Thtmas J. Appleyard, of Tallahassee, who has been secretary of the asociation for nearly forty years. The presence of that grand old man of the press association, Hon. Pensacola won by unanimous vote, which goes to show that when a talented woman gees after a press meeting she la certain of success. Just before adjournment announcement was made of the award of three prizes by ivthe Mergenthaler Linotype Company for excellence in make-up of weekly publica tions in Florida. The first prize of 50 went to the St. Lucie County Tribune of Fort Pierce, the second of $30 to the Plant City Courier and the third of f20 to the Lakeland Advertiser. Another result of the session was an agreement reached among the publishers of dailies to at once organize an associa tion of daily publishers for purely busi ness purposes. It is expected that this organization will be perfected at an early date at a meeting called by President Fitzgerald for Daytona. Immediately after the close of the meet ing the visitors again boarded automo biles for a long trip over wide and smooth sand-clay roads to the far southern end of Lake county. The first stop was at Mont Verde, up in the Apopka "moun tains," where there is located In those beautiful hills the Mont Verde Industrial school.' a co-educatlonal institution) under the direction of President H. A mile or so south of Clermont is the Lake Highlands club house, the destination of the party. An elegant building, one of the finest In the state, overlooks Lake Minnehaha. On the broad plazas the members of the board of trade of Clermont and a com mittee of ladies welcomed the guests, who Boon received a call to be seated at ele gantly appointed tables for a most elabo rate luncheon. A squad of Boy Scouts was on duty to assist the ladies who served this luncheon and the entire pro gram moved along with clock-like pre cision. There were addresses of welcome by prominent citizens of Clermont and responses by members of the press asso ciation. All in all it was one of the most delightful events of a program already filled to overflowing with pleasant sur prises and too much could not be said in praise of the enterprise and hospi tality of those splendid people of tho "Alpine" region of Florida. From Clermont automobiles conveyed the delegation east and west and north and south to nearest railroad points en route homeward. Those who were for tunately able to attend the 1919 session will agree that it ranks away up high with the best ever held. Thi new chapter In the history of ;n " Florida Press association Is Indeed one that shall ever be preserved and treas ured, to be read and re-read. GERMAN LIBERTIES IN PEACE TREATY USUALLY OBSCURED Paris, June 21. The definite provi sion for Germany's admission to the LioagTie of Nations -which is made in the revised treaty, is, oddly enough, tucked away in a section dealing with the disarmament of Germany. This was discovered by a comparison of the text issued to the American press with the original version. The language of the clause opens the possibility of an increase as well as a decrease of German armaments after discussion by the council of the league, although those who drafted the provisions probably contemplated 'only the second contingency. The French text, by one of those occasional variants which slipped by the commission's drafting experts, reads conditionally "may be" instead of "is." It is admitted there are other changes in the military clauses, not ably in tM provision for Germany's army, which is to be reduced to 100. 000 men before April 1920 and the ex tension of time for the dismantling of fortifications. These were adequate ly outlined in the official summary of the treaty. "BLUE BIBBON" TALKS. Blue Ribbon Vanilla and Imon are al ways satisfactory. Used , by the best cooks.
