Robert Warwick Is as splen did an actor as he was a soldier and withal a man whom all admire. Irving Cummings plays the heavy role, while Raymond Ferguson. Rob ert Calne, Casson Ferguson, Theodore Roberts and others have fine parts in which they do full, justice. Hugh Ford was director and Reu lah Marie Dix wrote the scenario. This was the decision of three negro soldiers who fought valiantly and were discharged from the army dis abled. Two of them had been born and raised on the farm, and they wanted to go back to it. but they wanted to go back prepared to be good, scientific farmers. That is what Tuskeegee and the federal board for vocational education is doing for them now. The other one had dreamed of ma chines from the time he stood wide eyed around the first automobile that came to town, arid here he Is now studying motor mechanics, and get tiny nearer and nearer his idea. The federal board for' vocational ed ucation, headquarters at 200 New Jer sey avenue, Washington, T. C. with 21 branch offices in different sections of the country, makes a business of helping these boys to win out voca tionally against any and every handi cap and they are winning out. Bringing to gether some of the most noted edi torial, publicity and advertising spe cialists in the south, the Dixie News Service, with headquarters at Atlanta, has recently come into the field of advertising-publicity concerns and to a degree has created a new field for itself. Heading the organization ara G. K. Rutledge, who resigned the pub licitory directorship of the Y. M. C. A. in the southeast to take up work with the organization: Allan C. Gett schadlt, present associate publicity di rector of the American Red Cross in the southern states, and J. Clark Brown, whose work as an advertising expert Is favorably known throughout the south and in New York and New England. The publicity for the nation-wide campaign now being waged is being handled in the southern states by the Dixie .News Service. To aid In this work the organization has secured the services of Tarleton Collier, well known southern juornallst and writer, who leaves the city editorship of the Atlanta Georgian to join the "Dixie News" forces. With officers at 326-7-8 Healey Building, Atlanta, Dixie News Serv vlce Is well equipped to take charge of all forms of publicity and advertis ing. Specialists in copy writing, spe cial editions, campaign drives and the preparation of sales letters and booklets include such men as "Ward Greene, feature writer and overseas correspondent of the Atlanta Journal; Dudley Glass, special writer on the Atlanta Georgian; "Ola Bill" Keeler, the widely known feature writer on the Georgian; Ward Morehouse, of the editorial department of the At lanta Journal; Ralph Jones, of the Atlanta Constitution; Clyde C. Most people have read Hall Caine's masterpiece,- 'The Woman Thou Gav est Me." and those who have not prob ably will sooner or later. Either class will enlov the remarkable presenta tion of this story upon the screen at the Isis theater, where it opened to a Hacked house and was received with acclaim yesterday. The picture waj directed by Hugh Ford and ia a Para mount-Artcraft special of the highest class. ' A cast of super-excellence inter prets the characters. Katherine Mc Donald is Mary; Jack Holt Is Lord Raa, Alma Lier is played by Fritz! Brunette. Milton Sills does Conrad and Theodore Roberts is Daniel, the stern father of Mary. The aunt is played by Katherine Griffith. The settings and locations of the exterior scenes are alike realistic and beautifuL The picture covers India, Africa, England. Egypt and the Anarctic. Every scene is vividly portrayed. The story concerns Mary MacXeill, married to a man she hates. Lord Raa, a rake and a beast. She refuses to be more than wife In name and he goes his way with an affinity. Mary meets an old lover, Martin Conrad, an explorer, and they are thrown togeth er in Africa and In the heart of the Immensity, they are played with by Kate as the win toys with the desert sands. Martin goes back to the south polar regions and Mary with her child is in London. Then she hears he is dead. Lord Raa returns from India and Mary's father, who has forced the hateful marriage upon her to satisfy his own selfish ends, insists that the husband shall be sponsor for the child. But Mary escapes with the the baby and goes to London. In the end she Is forced upon the street and accosts a man who emerges from a dense fog. It Is Conrad, back from the dead, searching the world for Mary. Raa obtains a divorce and Mary and Con rad are united at last. The dramatic features of the story are deftly and delicately handled, yet always with a vigor that makes them convincing. The direction throughout is highly artistic. Miss MacDonald as Mary, is exqui site and gives a wonderfully strong performance. The same may be said of the others and In every way this picture offers the best possible enter tainment for those who like real drama which wrings the heart but which ends happily for those who deserve happiness.
