' Miss Dalton herself sets the pace by wearing some new products from her modiste that are bound to make the women in the audience sit up and take notice. In truth, she runs the gamut of wearing apparel from the riding habit to boudoir gown. ' There are some big dance scenes and in these she fairly revels In gorgeous dresses. It is a tensely dramatic story by C. Gardener Sullivan, but it is placed in settings of lovliness' and concerns people who are beautifully selected cast which includes Forrest Stanley, H. H. Major Warwick was given an ova tion on his, return to New York from France and he is today the most In teresting figure in American theatri cals and motion pictures. "Secret Service," directed by Hugh Ford and with a remarkably strong supporting cast, will be seen at the Isis theatre today. -It is a play dealing with the efforts of a secret service agent ' of the Union to bring about the capture of Richmond at the time when the city was beleagured by the federal forces. Bateman of 915 East Gads den street, has been awarded the Croix de Guerre with' star by the French Republic. Capt. Bennett will present the decoration at 5:30 o'clock this aft ernoon at the Army-Navy-Shipbuilders' celebration at Fort Barrancas. Young Bateman was a pharmacist's mate in the navy and attached to the Second battalion of the Sixth regiment of marines under the command of Col. Harry Lee. He was very well known through -ut his unit for courage and efficiency under fire, having taken part in several offensives. . The official citation describes how he gave aid to the wounded during a violent; action at Crerzy and bore wounded men to places of safety de spite the fierceness of the enemy fire. This will be the firct presentat-- here of a medal for bravery in the recent war and it will be made the occasion of an impressive ceremoci. capt. On a charge of assault, with Intent to murder,- Henry Cheatham, a young white man of near walnut uiu, was brought to the county Jail yesterday morning by Deputy Sheriff George HalL Report yesterday from the vi cinity of Walnut Hill, was to the ef fect that Union Grimier, who Cheat ham assaulted. Is not expected to live. A. Merritt. Harold Hudson, living at 2541-2 South Pala fox street, sustained a badly bruised foot and other minor Injuries. The injured boy was taken to his home following the accident by Mrs. Merritt and Dr. Pierpont summoned to attend him. The accident was Investi gated by Police Officer Eilertson ond a case for violation of the city traf fic laws made against Mrs. Merritt. At 3:45 yesterday afternoon there was a collision or two automobiles, one diven by N. P. Cornellln and the other by Freddie Faulk, at Belmont and De Villier streets. Both cars were slight ly damaged though no one was hurt. A case was- made in police court against Cornellln by Officer Burke, who Investigated the accident. Gov ernment aeents say porters and train men were involved in the conspiracy and that other arrests are expected. On May 1, it is charged, thirty suit cases filled with liquor were put on a train for Savannah and thrown off at the little town of Ludowic. From Ludowic the liquor is said to- have been taken to Savannah and other towns in automobiles. .
