Effort is Made to Reach All Young
Mer Not Attending Day School.
Much interest is being manifested
in the 'night school which will be
started at the Y. 51. C. A. on October
16. Plans have been made for the
conduct of classes to take care of boys
and young men who have not com
pleted" their educational and have,
either by choice, or of necessity, been
forced into the business world.
Attention Is called to the fact ihat
there was a time when men without
education could make their way in the
world, but ti? time has come when
men look for boys' as well B3 young
men. who have ambition and who are
never satisfied until they have reached
the top. Xo young man can today
reach the highest unless he has equip
ped himself, and for this purpose the
Y. M. C. A. is conducting these study

: whether member of the association or
not will be admitted to the classes.
Parents who are interested in hav
ing their boys attend the school should
have the boys, or get in touch with
one of the secretaries themselves at
once, i The capacity of the school will
be limited, but the T" will try and
take care of every boy who desires
to -get into the classes. These clubs
will meet on Monday. Tuesday. Thurs
day and Friday nights, thus giving the
boys attending the school, three night
each week to themselves.
Men of experience and ability will
bo in direct charge of the classes,
and for the school is predicted a most
successful season. Prof. L.' Cox of
the high school faculty and Instruc
tor in science will be in charge of the
business, English and spelling, while
M. F. Lee of the Pensacola Coopers
company, a successful teacher and
business man, will be in charge of
mathematics and penmanship classes.
MESSENGER BOYS
AT NAVAL STATION
Examination Will Be Held October
27 to Fill Vacancies.
The U. S. civil service commission
announces an examination for mes
senger boys to be held at Pensacola.
Fla., on October 27, 1919. Vacancies
in the naval air service at $2.24 a day
will be filled from this examination.
The limits are 16 to 19 years. For
further information and applications,

vice board, Pensacola, Fla., or the sec
retary, fifth civil service district, post

Three Arrests for Riding on Sidewalks.
Chief Begins to Collect Inspec
tion Fee From Motor Car Owners.
Officer Commyns yesterday arrested
two boys and one man for ridini? their
bicycles on the . sidewalks. - Monday
there were eight arrests for the same
offense and the offenders paid J 5 and
costs. The authorities are determined
that this practice must cease, and the
vigilance of every officer on the force
has been demanded by the chief to
stamp it out. " , -
Chief Ellis began yesterday to col
leet - the Inspection fee from owners
Of automobiles In this city. The pay
ment of this fee was recently pro
vided for in an . ordinance passed by
the city commissioners.

leged to have gotten on the outside

and developed a dislike for every
body in general and for Dan SampJbs,
a traveling salesman, in particular.
Mr. Samples, with a friend, was
walking on South Palafox street early
last night when, it is said, he was ac
