PASTIME One of the dramatic treats of the season will be offered at the rastlme theatre' on Oct. 23, 24. 25, when Nat S. Jerome, the noted comedian and character actor will appear in a new one act comedy entitled "Our Chil dren," written and staged by that unc tious and virile writer Emmet Devoy. As an exponent of a certain type of the Hebrew found in New York city's most respected circles, Mr. Jerome Is without a rival and convincingly proves himself an originator by giving to the stage the type of Hebrew wo havo longed to see, a real human flesn and blood creation. As for the play, there is not a dull moment. It is a phychological study of human nature. A Justification. Adroitly written and originally por trayed. Every line rings true because It depicts life as It is and as it must always needs be. Comedy and heart interest are deftly and artistically blended. A . playwright is often a theatrical tailor. "When a star wants to appear at his best he goes where he knows he will tret the best fit. Nat S. Je rome, in "Our Children" is said to be giving tho stage an exceptionally fine bit of character acting. Emmot De voy has provided him with a role that fits like a glove. "Our Children" Is a comedy drama with comedy predominating. It is the story of tho fusion of wills and ideas. The beach at Atlantic City, like the sands of most summer resorts, is a play ground and out-door play is us ually athletic. This is why Nellie anJ Ernest Veronica have selected the beach at Atlantic City as the scene gymnastic routine. They are among the fastest of comedy ground tumblers and offer some ' excellent somert-aut-ing. The introduction of a rolling chair enables them to offer many new feats' In a novel manner. Gertrude Van Dyck is known bs "The Love Girl." This title should not be taken as meaning sentimental "tommy-rot." It applies to v the love of mankind and to tho love of &1S things beautiful, and more to th( lover of her work. Miss Van Dyck is a singing com edienne. She presents in story anJ song a creation of her brother's, Vin cent Van Dyck, called "Life's Greatest Question." It sounds like a problem play, but it is not. "The Great Ques tion" with Miss Van Dyck is how to provide wholesome entertainment and apparently she has found tho answer. After playing separately for over a season the Murray Sisters have again Joined hands. Few sisters have en Joyed more popularity than Z'arion and Victoria Murray.' They e.tablis-heJ themselves In the amusement worM with the stability of Gibraltar and Just as a tourist looks forward to some time seeing the Rock of Gibraltar, so does the public look forward to the engagement of the Murray Sister. Kor their re-association they h"vc had Frances Nordstrom supply their songs and patter. Few writers an; more capable to do this thin Nordstrom. She writes what is com monly known as "sure-fire" maria'.. Poverty Correct Nesdle Fluid fr Bloated Arms of Rich, Says Blues Doctor. A period of poverty is the best ter.lc In the world for the over-wealthy v ho are afflicted with gout and ba l i;" positions. This is the lessons rirsi'd by Mary Plckford as Amy Bur' in "The Hoodlum." the second of h"r productions from her own stui-s which will be given a run. comir.tr.c ing tomorrow at the Isis Theatre. However, Amy Burke does not corr.? by this impression through experi rc among the poor and hearsay :iu the rich. In a Series of ludicr events she is voluntarily taken from mansion where fluffy powder pu- s silk lingerie, French heels and t. marcel hair wav-are,all the rafe and dropped , into 'the grime of a ten" ment street.
