Chicago, Oct. 24. General commis sion house buying together with light ness of offerings led to a quick ad vance today in the corn market. Open ing prices, which ranged from c to l-8c higher were followed by mod erate further gains. Oats were firm with corn. Renewed strength in the grain and hog markets steadied provisions. In connection with the clearingof the steamship Argenia for a South American port, F. L. Waaser, marine superintendent of the Brooklyn Steam ship Co., with H. R. Manson, port captain, are In the city. The Argenia Is the last of ten Dougherty type ships built at Orange, Texas, for the Emer gency Fleet Corporation.
