It took some time to get into the. room before the city dads could carry on their of ficial meeting. . The authority to build a wharf . at the foot of Alcanlz-st., granted to W. B. Ferris and associates, was pass ed on third reading. The right of L. G. Crosby to con struct a spur track from his place of business on' Chase-st to the IV & . tracks was also . granted upon third reading of the ordinance. The commissioners will re-advertise bids for the digging of two wells for the city. This advertisement was run during the month, but owing to the time not being set for the opening of . the bids some contractors asked that the bids be re-advertised. Only one bid had been received and rep resentatlves of that firm withdrew their bid to allow the city to further advertise, ' Resolutions from the city engineer were adopted asking for more rodmen. This resolution asked for 10 additional rodmen. Resolutions were also adopt ed for putting;1 in equipment for the burning of fuel oil in the city water works. ' Mr. Fisher was present at the meeting In behalf o Chief of Special Police -Penton and asked that the city reimburse Mr. Penton for Injuries re ceived by him recently when he was run down by Fire Chief Riera's car. Quincy was greatly, shocked today when it became generally known that Robert Howard Cravey, " the 1 13-year-old daughter of Mrs. Headie Cravey Purvis, of Jack sonville, had been killed yesterday in an auto accident. The child was in the car with a family returning from gathering , Christmas decorations and the machine was struck by ; a train, some of the other occupants of the car are also dead. Mrs. Purvis was born and reared In Quincy and little Roberta's early life was spent here. . - The child's uncle, Julian Howard, has charge of the funeral which will be held at the eastern cemetery - in Quincy Tuesday morning. NEGRO TAKEN HERE WITH STOLEN CAR Jack Daniels, negro, was arrested yesterday by Capt. Harper for being suspiciously in posession of a Dodge car. Upon investigation it was found that the car had been stolen in Mont gomery and that the police there were looking for it. A reward of $50 was of fered for the return of the car and the arrest of the thief. Daniels admitted that the car had been stolen -but refused to give any details. - It is alleged that he drove a car to Montgomery and returned with this one.
