"Paris is remarkably free of Amer. icans," says Miss Harriett Tavlor. who was Just returning from nineteen montns. service as chief of. all the work of the Americans Y. TV. C. A. in France, to resume her work with that organization at its national headquar ters in New York City. "The uniformed noraes of Americans who thronged Paris streets during the war and up to the past few months have departed The thousands on thousands of tour ists who may be expected, after a few more months have not yet begun to arrive. Between them Paris is more French than usual. "This does not mean that there are no Americans there. The Americans Women's Club, which is coming to be a general rendexvous for all Ameri cans - in Paris is exceedingly well pat ronized even now. But many of the women who meet there for clubs and parties are residents in Paris, not tour ists. 'When the anticipated influex of American tourists begins, this club house (formerly the Hotel Petrograd, at 33 Rue Caumartin) will be full to overflowing. The club officials have been making use of this period of comparative leis ure to prepare for busier days to come, The information bureau, particularly , has done an enormous piece of work in preparing a card index of all informa tion which may conceivably be of use to Americans travelling in France. One of the features of the clal life of the club is its weekly . musicale, coming on Sunday evenings, at which American students of music in Paris conservatories are Introduced to Amer ican audiences whose size Is limited lonly by the capacity of the reception room. These students are selected by consultation with the conservatories, and only the most accomplished and promising are invited to perform. Another interesting and thoroughly "Yankee" custom of the club - is the celebration of each American holiday with appropriate festivities. February, with its two big birthday parties, was unusually gay, and the club provided decorations, entertainment and menus in keeping with each occasion. Miss Taylor is particularly impressed with the wide variety of American types who frequent the American Women's Club. From all parts of the United States and from all strata of society they come. The ultra-fashionable millionaire's wife and the sim ple country lady from "Out West" seem equally at home in this, "their home in Parl3." . 666 quickly relieves Colds and LaGrippe, Constipation, Bilious ness, Loss of Appetite and Headaches.
