Washington, May 26—(By Union
Associated Press)—The Department
of Agriculture is sending out to the
country information regarding the
food value of bananas and urging the
people to eat then in larger quanti
ties than formerly. Each normal
banana, it is explained, contains 127
calories and the fruit has such high
food value that it can be substituted
for potatoes, rice and macaroni. At
present bananas are very cheap com
pared to other foods.
