COTTON GINS DESTROYED.
Over Two Dozen Burned Past
Several Weeks, Very Few Be

Special to the Dally Progress.
Jackson, Oct. 80. —During the
drouth which baa prevailed in Missis

two dozen cottOD gins, some of the
number being very costly plants, have
been destroyed by fire, and hardly a
day passes that does not bring a report
of a cotton gin burned,
tion of property of this class is es
pecially unfortunate on account of the
fact that very few of the cotton gins
in the state carry insurance, none of
the leading companies writing busi

A New Invention
A Hatt.esburg citizen has invented
a pump, that works automatically, for
drawing water for stock. It is the
most simple device in existence. B.
Perkins and A. S. Woods are exhibit
the model. It is iu complete
order and may be seen at work at
Perkins' fruit stand. It is^so com
plete in simplicity that a lady or
child can draw water with it, by
placing water bucket on platform
under water pipe. A cow or horse or
stock of any kind can draw their own
water by simply walking up to the
trough, their weight on the platform
being the power that forces the water
up. After drinking all they want,
their stepping off causes an automatic
readjustment, leaving it ready for the
a nimal i
County aiid state rights for sale. I
Call and see thin wonderful invention. 1
