Jackson, Dec. 81.—A crflRplete change of schedule takes place on the Gnlf and Ship Island road between Jackson and Gulfport next Saturday. In the future No. 1, limited will leave Jackson at 5:15 a. m and reach Gulfport at 10:05 a in. No. 5 will leave u. a. m. and reach Gulf port at 11 :15 a. m. No. 3 will leave Jackson at 8:30 p. in., and reach Gulfport at 10 p. m. No. 2 will leave Gulfport at 7 p. m. and reach Jackson at 11:50 p. m. No. 4 leaves Gulfport at 7:10 a. m. and reaches Jackson at 2:10 a m. No. 6 will leave Gulfport at 8:45 p. m. and reach Jackson at 10:20 p. m. Jackson, Dec. 31.—Jackson was without a water supply today, the waterworks plant being shat down for a period of ten hours to enable the company to make connections at the - standpipe. Governor Lon gino and Attorney General Williams left today for the delta, where they will spend the remaining part of the weak, making a careful inspection of i the state prison farms. : nor has completed his final message to ; the legislature, and tho document; will be read in both bodies next Tues The gover day morning. Tax Collectors Rounding Up. Special to the Daily Progress. Jackson, Dec. 31.—Within the next ten days the county tax collectors of the state who are retiring from office will make their final settlements with the state treasury, and about $1,000, 000 in taxes is expected from this source. The retiring collectors will be in office only two days during the month of January, and at the sugges tion of Auditor Cole lie will date all tax receipts for those two days in De cember, thus avoiding the necessity of making two monthly settlements'.
