NATCHEZ PEOPLE ARE COMING
HOT WILL PROCEED
As stated in the Daily News last
week, an excursion of the commercial
men of-Natchhz will leave that city on
Monday, June 8th, with Hattiesburg as
the objective point.
Confirming this statement Secretary
Larson, of the Hattiesburg Commer
cial Club, has received a letter from
the secretary of the Commercial Club
at Natchez, saying that the "Com
mercial people" of that city would i
leave on an excursion next Monday j
morning over the Natchez and Eastern
and the Mississippi Central, hut h ■
could not say just when they would j
arrive in Hattiesburg, as they expectut
to stop for a while at a number of!
poiuts along the line and that in this
way one or two days may be con
sumed. He stated that he would write
tater giving the exact date they would
arrive ih Hattie burg. It will be Tues
day or Wednesday before they get here
as they want to cultivate the people
along the line. '
The Natchez Democrat will issue a
special edition which will exploit the
advantages of Natchez and will be dis
tributed free. In this edition the mer
chants of Natchqz will advertise lib

Apron Party.— —
Among the most successful social
events connected with the commence
ment ekercises of the Hattiesburg high
school was the apron party tendered
the'senlors by the Juniors at the beau
tiful home of Rev. I. P. Trottes with
Miss Bertha Trotter, one of the charm
ing Jdnlors, as hostess. Miss Trotter
was assisted in receiving her guests
by Miss Myrtle Byrd.
The house-was beautifully decorated
in the Senior-colors, green and white.
Each young lady wore an unhemmed
apron, which was beautifully hem
mend by the gallant young men.
The prize for the best hemmed apron
was won by Thompson Allison, the
prize being a large stick of candy,
tied with the class colors. An im
promptu feature of. the evening, though
very delightful one, was the sweet
songs by the happy juniors. With
delightful music, beautiful singing, the
Hattiesburg High School yell, or last
but by no means least, delicious re
freshments, the evening passed too
swiftly by.

TO CELEBRATE
DAVIS' BIRTHDAY
At 3 o'clock in the afternoon Wed
nesday, June 3, the United Daughters
of the Confederacy will hold anniver
sary exercises In honor of the birthday
of Jefferson Davis, the Confederate
chieftain from this state.
Appropriate exercises have been ar
ranged, for the occasion, which, It Is
understood, will commemorate both his
birth and death. Allstores have
agreed to close from 3 to 5 o'clock
Wednesday .afternoon and the exer
cises will be held at the Auditorium.
The members of the U. D. C. are ex
pected to meet Tuesday afternoon at 3
o'clock in the palm garden of the Hotel
Hattiesburg, where all necessary ar
rangements for the exercises Wednes
day afternoon will be completed. All
members are urged to be present Tues
