IMPORTANT SUBJECTS TO
Next Tuesday night, the 22nd inst., |
the regular meeting of the Commercial j
Club will be held in the Pythian Hall
and several matters of vital concern j
will be discussed.
The main subjects for discussion j
will be "Agricultural Development,"
"Good Roads," and "Canning Factory."
These are all timely subjects and
they will be discussed by gentlemen
who have made some study of them.
If this section can be developed along
agricultural and horticultural lines as
rapidly as the timber is cut off, there
will be a continual increase in the
prosperity of the country all along
the line and there will be no let up in
the growth of Hattiesburg.

New Orleans, September 19.—The

Dense fogs are reported in some sec

COURT HAS LARGE
DOCKET AND WILL FILL TERM
Senator Watkins
returned
last j
night from Purvis where he has been j
attending the Lamar County court all \
the week, and he states that there is a
full criminal docket and that it will
take all of the court term, which is
two weeks longer, to finish the crim
inal docket, and it is doubtful if it
be finished even before the time for
court to adjourn.
Mr. Watkins had many nice things
to say about Purvis. He hays that it
presents a much better appearance
than it did before the cyclone; that the
recovery has been wonderful and
shows the indomitable will of the peo
ple to overcome all obstacles, and the

CITT SCHOOLS ORGANIZED;
TRUSTEES MEET MONDAY
The city schools have been organ
ized in all the departments this week
and everything is in readiness for the
actual school work that will begin next
week.
The preliminary work accomplished
this week has been very satisfactory
and it is expected that a large number
of new pupils will enter next week.
There are more students In the tenth
grade than there has ever been, forty
having been enrolled this week. The
largest number heretofore for this
grade has been about seventeen.
There is some disposition
among
the children to want to change from
the schools to which they have been
J assigned to other schools. This Super
intendent Woodley cannot do without
J the permission of the board of trus
tees. The trustees will have a meet
