Society S Clubs S Personals Cotton-Picking Katies Meet At Green Gables The Cotton-Picking Katies chapter of the Cehtennial Belles met at the Green Gables Cafe Friday July 4 for a delightful breakfast and funfest. Those pre sent were: Mrs. Grace Engelmann, Mrs. Doris Russell, Shirley Russell, Mrs. Carrie Engelmann, Mrs. Elizabeth Hodges, Miss Lizzie Dickens, Mrs. Velma Pilgrim, Mrs. Mae Kellum, Mrs. Ernes tine Bley and Mrs. Connie Sue Ellard. Little Connie Ellard was a guest. Other Members of the C.P.K. Chapter are: Mrs. Lucille Mc Daniel, Mrs. Selma Burnley, Mrs. Christine Hankins, Mrs. Julia Coonce, Mrs. Ruth Mi'tcheil, Mrs.. Jackson Guests Mr. and Mrs. Edward Durham and daughter, Shirley Ann, of Jackson spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, D. M. Barranco. "58-ers" Chapter Make Parade Plans A social hour and refresh ments were enjoyed by the “58-ers” chapter of the Centen nial Belles at their Tuesday aft ernoon meeting held in the Green Gabies Cafe. Plans were made for Ladies Day and the Parade. Those present were Ruby Por ter, president; Betty Ellis, Treas urer; Mary Gray, secretary; Bes sie Counts, sheriff; Jewel Mans field, governor, and Maudine Smith, Mabel Norwood, Stella Montgomery, Georgia McIntyre, Mildred Mallory, Mildred Mc Crory, Rose Cobb. Ding Dong Belles Have Supper Meeting The Ding Dong Belles met at Tommie’s Cafe for supper and a social hour on Wednesday after noon at 6. D. Guess Home On Sunday July 6, members of the Guess family met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Z. D. Guess for a reunion. Forty one members of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Z. M. Guess were present, including a bro ther, Dr. S. H. Guess of Green wood. Four generations of the family were represented with only three members absent. Lunch was served picnic style on the lawn of the Guess home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Guess and Jack, Mrs. Beatrice Lindsey, Mrs. Jessie W. Guess and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin, Kosciusko; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Guess and Joy McAdams; Mr. and Mrs. W, H. Guess, Den ver, Tenn.; Mrs. Annie Lee Wil son, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Garrus Wilson, Billy and Sharon, West; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Williams and Lucy Lynn, Grenada; Mr. and Mrs. John May and family, Jackson; Mrs. John C. Hathorn Gives Party For Tintypes Mrs. N. C. Hathorn entertain ed with a morning coffee for the Centennial Belles “Tintypes” Wednesday morning from 10 to 12. For the occasion the house was decorated'with roses and hydran geas. Assisting the hostess was Mrs. Zuell Bacon, who poured coffee. The refreshment table, covered with a lace cloth held an at tractive array of party fare. Pictures were made of the group. Luncheon Tuesday For Buggy Belles Chapter The Buggy Belles Chapter of the Durant Centennial Belles en joyed a lunhceon at the Hotel Coffee Shop Tuesday July 8. Members attending were Jean Brooks, chapter chairman; Bessie Vaughn, Clara Peden, Mallie Gulled ge, Doris Landrum, Lillie Brown, Pauline Thomas, Jessie Lewis, Carol Johnson and Ive Steen, guest. Mr. Higginbotham, who is a wen-known consulting engineer, is also known in civic and poli tical circles. He has served as city engineer, commissioner of puolic parks and streets, as mayor and commissioner of public health and safety, and was me first mayor-president in East Baton Kouge Parish. Mrs. Higginbotham is known in real estate circles where she nas been active for some years. Airs. R. C. Elmore Honored On Birthday Mrs. R. C. Elmore was honor ed on her 80th birthday Friday morning, July 4, by her daugh ters, Mrs. George Povall and Mrs. Harry Gwinner of Atlanta, Ga. A pink and blue color scheme was used in decorations of the Elmore home, setting for the party, with arrangements of sum mer flowers featured through out. Greeting guests at the door were Mrs. G. W. Drane and Miss Mary Belle Perkins, sister of the honoree, and presiding at the guest book was Miss Susan Gwinner of Atlanta, granddaugh ter of the honoree. Guests were invited into the dining room by Mrs. J. J. Griffin and Mrs. Turnage Williams. The table, centered with the three tiered birthday cake, held love ly arrangements of pink and blue hydrangeas. Others assisting were Mrs Mal lie Gulledge, who served the cake, and Mrs. Margaret Moore pouring coffee. Around 100 guests called dur ing the appointed hours. Centennial Belles Have Party Thursday The “98-ers” chapter of the Centennial Belles were enter tained on Thursday morning in the home of Mrs. F. V. McCullar with a morning coffee. The members, wearing their centennial costumes enjoyed an old fashioned “musicale” guess ing the names of tunes of a by gone era. Mrs. Calvin King, win ner, was presented the grand prize of a box of snuff. Several members who disobey ed rules were sentenecd to ap pear before the next session of he Kangaroo Court. Undergoes Tonsilleciomy Little Miss Margaret Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Brown, Jr. returned Saturday from the Grenada Hospital where she underwent a tonsil lectomy on Friday.
