Mississippi Enterprise Junior Idea Club
Edited by Sister Dottye Dear Juniors: Well, the day for the picnic has come and gone and I am sure I voice the sentiment of every Junior and every other boy and girl who attend ed, when I say our picnic this year was bigger and better than ever be fore. And on behalf of the Juniors, I wish to express to the Mississippi Enterprise, The WPA Recreation Workers and the many white merch ants and business friends, who help ed to make our picnic a success, our sincere thanks and appreciation. I am sure that every boy and girl who attended, will go back to school with pleasant memories of the del ightful day spent and will resolve to put forth every effort to make good grades and prove themselves worthy of the many fine things that have been done for them during the sum mer, not only by their parents, but by others. I will soon enter school myself, my first year at Tougaloo Street, you can be sure that I’m mighty excited. I shall write you about my school days and shall expect you to write me. Yours for a happy school year Sister Dottye (Dorothy Oliver) THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: “An educated man is one with university sympathy for everything and a certain amount of knowledge about everything that is known, and who still is on the live of evolution and is learning to the end. IN THE LETTER BOX Dear Sister Dottye: I want to say that I certainly enjoyed reading the Junior Page last week, especially the poems sent in by Juniors Augustine and Willie Mae Pones. I hope they will keep this up. I am sending one in this week, entitled, “My Patrotic Dolls.” Bernice Perkins. 2216 N. Pleas. Ave. POET’S CORNER My Patrotic Dolls By Bernice Perkins Marrils, Lulum and Precious Dear, For many years, you were a part of my pleasure The time has come to part we fear Our country calls, and you must go For you are rubber and they need you so For many a year we held you dear Told you our secrets and our fears And now we smile as we bid you go To help annihilate the foe We wanted you to live that’s true And you will neath the Red, White and Blue For you will do your bit to save Freedom in the home of every man.
