Pelahatchie News Mrs. Zadie Harvey, Agent Mrs. Queen Ester Washing ton of Jackson, Miss, visited her parents and sons recently. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Manning. Those from the Pelahatchie Charge who attended the meeting held at Pratt M. E. Church were Mrs. Ina Mars hall. Mrs. Hazel Collier from Mt. Ridge and Mr. Jack Scott and Mrs. Zadie Harvey from Ormand Hill Church. The Rev. E. P. Lenoadr, District Super intendent of the Jackson Dis trict was in charge of the meeting. There were quite a few Laymen present and most oft he ministers. The business of the meeting was accepting quotas and getting the con ference year started off right Mrs. Smith Wooten and sor Roy were dinner guests in the Manning and Windom home Sunday. Rev. J. P. Gipson attended to business in Jackson, Miss Saturday. Mr. Earl Monroe Macklin visited his parents Father’s Day. The parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Macklin. The family reunion that is held annualy at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Harvey was held this year at the home of an uncle, Mr. Edmond Har: vey at Forest, Miss. Sunday. June 21st. A large number of the Harveys were present. Dinner was served and plenty of refreshments. Everyone ex pressed the joy of having at tended the affair. Mrs. Thelma Vineyard and daughter Valeria of New Berg N. Y. are visiting in the home of her mother Mrs. Linnie MacRoy. Mrs. Vineyard will be remembered as Thelma Mac Roy. Mr. Willie Macklin of Jack son, Miss, was guest of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Macklin Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Adams of Morton, Miss, visited Mrs Alice indom and Mr. and Mrs George Manning Sunday after noon. Mrs. Mamie Peaks is leav ing for home this week. The family had a get together anc dinner in the home of hex daughter Mrs. Inez Macklin Others who shared in the din ner Sunday were Misses Cla rissa and Mary Ormand anc Mrs. Ora Bowling of Jackson Miss. Mrs. Macklin is accom paning her mother as far a: Chattanooga, Tenn. on her re turn to Cincinnatti, Ohio. Miss Thelma MacRoy is re cuperating nicely and has re turned from the hospital ii Morton, Miss. Mrs. Gladys Manning was shopping in Jackson, Miss. Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gipson, Jr. accompanied Mrs. Queen Ester Washington home in Jackson. Miss. Mrs. Florence Gipson had as guest Monday afternoon, Mrs. Mahala Frazier. Mrs. Tommy Cockrel called for a short visit in the Man ning home Sunday. Mrs. Sallie Harvey is visit ing her daughters and son in Joliet, 111. this week. Her son in-law Mr. Andrew Crudup is expecting to undergo the sec ond operation after an acci dent he had last summer. Mrs. Olevia Wilson of Jack son, Miss, is spending a few days with her father, Mr. Austin Stewart. Mr. Milton Gipson and Mr. Jack Scott attended the fune ral of Mr. Cassel Taylor Satur day at Fannin, Miss. Bullie, Agent Sunday, June 23 a fine ser vice was held at China A. M. E. Church. Sunday School opened timely by the Supt. Bro. C. D. Plarris and the lesson was bea utifully taught by the teacher. A fine offering was raised. Mr. Oats, Dist. Supt. and Mr. J. I,. Adams, Conference Supt. Dist., were the visitors in the Sunday School, their visit will be long remembered. Miss Lena Mae Phillip, Sect., Bro. C. D. Harris, Supt., Rev. W. C. Myles, Pastor. Mr. Wm. Oats, Dist. Supt., of Jackson was at his best giving a blackboard form of a Modern Sunday School and is interested in the Young People and the welfare of the growth of the Sunday School. Mr. Adams accompanied him. When they left China Grove they were engaged for 3 more schools the same day. Also they are very successful in the work and we are praying that he will keep on keeping on. Women Day porgram will be held at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Madison, June 28, Rev. E. E. McDowell, Assist. Pastor, Mr. H. Gray, Sect. The Mt. Center Church Choir presented its first musi cal program Sunday, June 21, a large crowd witnessed the following: Invocation by Bro. Clarence Webster; song by Junior Choir; Welcome—Sis. Malonia Webster; solo—Sis. Wilma McClenty; trio—the i Websters; duet—Sarah and Jimmie Smith; purpose of pro gram — Dc^othy McClenty; solo—Dan Williams; duet—the Crawley Sisters; song—Junior. Each of the following churches weer asked to bring two mem bers from their choirs and an offering; Mount Ollie; Pine Grove; Mount Zion; Cedar Grove; Pleasant Green; China Grove, Madison; New Jeru salem; China Grove, Jackson; and Hope Spring. Response by Bro. Charlie Crawley; song— Mount Charity Choir and ser mon by Rev. R. L. Luckett. Finance Committee: Bros. Robert Webster, Solomon Green, Henry McClenty, Jr., Daniel McClenty, Ellis Adams, and Jonnie Porter. Offering raised was $92.00 and all of the previous mentioned churches responded but three.
