Miss Allen was at her best as she deliver ed the warm Welcome Ad dress. The Welcome was ac cepted by Bro. Manuel Allen with just as much sincerity as it was given. . Adding much to the service was the gospel singing of the choir; the stir ring words of praise by Sis. Hannah Banks as she spoke on the leadership of the pas tor; words of tribute from Mrs. Countryman as she spoke far the Mt. Pilgrim M. B. Church;'; The Pastor had three surprises during the service: 1st, $ro. Allen of Mt. Pleasant gave an account of the pastor’s leader-" ship in that twon, although at the time he was a sinner, but the Christian spirit of Pastor Turner led- him to Christ, long after Pastor Turner had left the community. \ The second surprise was the presentation his photo by little Miss Alice Wright. The 3rd Surprise was brought by the lovely little daugther of Mr. and Mrs. E D. Gray, as she led the Junidr Ushers to the pastor and presented him with $17.50 from that group who range in age from 6 to 10 years. This wa$ indeed heart touching. The spirit - filled Sermon was delivered by Pas tor Canlton df Tallulah, La. Those from Vicksburg witness ing this service with Mrs. Countryman, were, Mr. Mat I thew Parker and sons, Mr. I Matthew Jr. and Willie Lee Parker, Miss Joyce and Mary Lee Elzie, Miw Deloris Kelly and Miss Bertha Turner. LOCAL NOTES: MR. AND MRS. JAMES E. LEWIS, Sr. and family will spend the holidays in Fayette, Miss., with relatives. MRS. ELLA W. HALL will spend Christmas in Jackson and Clinton, Miss., with rela tives and friends. MR. CHESTER AND MRS OLIVIA L. SMITH are cele brating their 40th year Wed ding Anniversary December 25 from 2: P. M. until. MR. SUBBIE DUNCAN who has been confined in a local hospital is now home and at this writing is doing fine. Let us pray for him a speedy re covery. He lives at 602 Popu lar St. He had the pleasure of a visit from his grandson, Mr. Charles Green of Grand Rap-j Ms, Mich., who will spend the Christmas holidays here. - THE PASTOR and members of St. Mark Free Will Baptist Church invites the public to worship with them Christmas morning at 5:30.
