CHICAGO NEWS Mrs. Georgia Renager, A Historical Sketch of the Life of Mrs. Fannie Skipper Camper who departed this life June 18, 1962 Mrs. Camper was born in Westville, Miss, on Nov. 28. 1871. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. On March 6, 1890 she was mar ried to Mr. John Camper. To this union 11 children were born. After a few years of marriage Mr. and Mrs. John Camper moved to Hazlehurst, Miss, where all of the child ren were reared. In 1947 she went to New Jersey to stay for a while, then to Chicago. In 1947 she went to Houston Texas and made her home there until she passed away at the age of 90 years. Surviving are 7 daughters and one son, 24 grand chil dren, 32 great grand children, 2 great great grand children, and also many nieces, neph ews and many other rela tives. I Mr. and Mrs. O. H. James celebrated their wedding an neversary with a family din ner which included relatives of both sides of the family. This with the children and grandchildren was quite an aggregation of people present for the occasion. Mr. James’ birthday was August 17, and was also part of the celebra tion. Mrs. Naomi James, who is an expert cook, served an elaboraely planned dinner. Congratulations to Mr. Henry Mobley of 6047 Ada street on his retirement from the Metropolitan Mutual and Assurance Company af ter 35 years of service. Also, happy birthday to him, which was celebrated on August 11. Toledo News By Amos Williams On Sick List Mrs. Minnie Williams of Brand Whitlock Homes is now confined in Maumee Valley Hospital for observation and examination of a severe blood pressure she suffered in the home last Friday night, everyone wishes her a speedy recovery, she is the mother of Mr. Amos Williams. The church of God Aposit ilic faith located at 617 Col lingwood Blvd. held its an nual convocation August 12 19, 1962 The Bishop E. B. Williams presiding. The Jesus Only Church of Deliverence located at 130'S Collingwood Blvd. held it’s first general assembly Aug ust 20 - 26, 1962 Elder Lucile Williams presiding. A raffle drawing was held at the Elk’s Rest on Satur day August 18, 1962, Brother Rupert Stokes was sponsor. The Elks National Conven tion is being held at Detroit. Michigan August 24 through 31, 1962, a parade will follow at 12:00 Noon Tuesday Aug ust 28, 1962. Mr. and Mrs. Edward W Jordan of 2031 Forest Avo. celebrated their 28th mar riage anniversary August 11, 1962, the couple spent their an niversary in Windosr Onter io, Canada on the weekend. Fun night was held at the Hyatt Allen Post No. 538 American Legion Hall Satur day night August 18, 1962, cocktail was served and re freshments was prepared by Mrs. Lillian Reed and Mrs. Richard Burnell, everyone had a nice time. Miss Carolyn Taylor 14, is visiting her brother Mr. Wil bert Taylor, and Mr. & Mrs. Charles Verrett of 4950 S. Langley, Chicago. Miss Tay lor is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ezekiel Taylor Sr. of Fannin Miss. She is from a family of 16 children, Sister & Brothers at home in Fan nin are Lillie B. 12; George Willie 15; Juanita 21; they are readers of Mississippi Enterprise. Miss Taylor at tends Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church in Fannin and Gosh en Fannin School. Mrs. A. McNobb Smith met in Battle Creek, Michigan with her relatives on the An nual Cousin’s Day, they spent an enjoyable day at the Park on the Farm was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Smith motored to this affair with her cousin, Mr. & Mrs. Luther Holmes of Progressive Church of Christ. Other members of this Cousin Club were Mr. and Mrs. L. Turner of De troit, Mich., Zion Chapel Church; Mrs. Smith is a member of Olivet Baptist Church, Chicago. Y. M ,C. A. News The initial meeting of the' Touchdown Club will be held the first week on September at the Farish St. Branch YMCA. The Health & Physical Edu cation Committee, in the Aug ust session agreed that this activity for adult and young adult members should con tinue to be one of its pro jects. The chairman outlined the benefit s this activity has brought to the Y. M. C. A, the members and the local schools and colleges. The committee agreed that an effort should be made to make the club attractive to (the sports fans-those who are interested from the specta tors’ angle. In the organizational ses aion a film will be seen which ahows the Florida Orange Blossom Classic. Those who like to watch football have a special invitation to attend the first meeting of the Touch down Club which will meet on Tuesday, September 4th at the Association building. . Scheduled dates for meet ings to continue through the football season will be re leased later. Members of the committee present at this planning ses sion were: Edgar Jemerson, J. B.
