Sylvarena News Miss Willie E. Smith Reporter Funeral Services were held Thursday for Mr. Spencer Puckett in Delhi, La. Attend ing from this community were: Mesdames Loree Wil liams, Margett Ann McAfee, Retta Boone, Ruby Lee And erson and Mr. L'nell Wil liams. Representatives to the Spring Hill District Associa iiuxx nidi convened r naay ana Saturday past were: Mr. E L. Sims, Mr. Howard John son and Rev. P. E. Lott. The Welcome Address was giver by Miss Mary Jean Alford These reported a very fine session, that was successful both spiritually and financ ially. Offering was $788.11. Mr. and Mrs. U. W. Ander son are pleased to have theii son, Pfc. David Andersor -home from the army for s three weeks visit. He wil leave here for Germany. Funeral services were held Saturday for Mr. N. C. Myers at Mt. Ridge Methodist Church. He was the son of Mrs. Mandy Myers. Attend ing the service from this com munity were: Mr. John Stubbs, Misses Mary Jean Parker, Myrtis Jean Ander son, Eunice Boone, Curtisene Allen, Ardean Stubbs, Mr. A. C. Stubbs and Mrs. Retta Boone. The people of this com munity extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family. Mr. Leo Holloway left Lie 1st Saturday to visit his sis ters, aunts and other relatives in Chicago, 111. The Spring Hill Women’s Work, Auxiliary to the Asso ciation met with the Spring Hill Home Mission Society, Friday and Saturday, with the president, Mrs. L. E. Taylor, presiding. The session was a --success, spiritually and finan cially, with 23 societies; one Institute and one B. T. U. rep NO INTEREST—NO C resenting. Two representa tives visited from the Zior Spring Leafe Women’s Asso ciation; two from the Spring Hill District Ladies Auxiliary of the Spring Hill Associatior were chosen to attend the Zion Spring Leaf Women’s Association. They were: Mrs Mallie Jenkins and Mrs. Ber tha Lee Smith. Offering was $353.39. Mrs. L. E. Taylor President, Mrs. P. N. Cannon Secretary. Sunday Mr. and Mrs L. W Williams and family attendee Revival Services at Macedo nia Baptist Church, Collins Miss. They reported enjoy able services with the Morn ing Sermon by Rev. D. B Earnes and the evening mess age by Rev. L. C. Pickens. The B. T. U. of Sylvarem M. B. Church will sponsor i Talent Program the 4th Sun day night. The public is in vited to be present and par ticipate. ARRYING CHARGE && Participants in the Young People’s Program Saturday evening at the Association ; were: Misses Christine Wil liams, Inez and Willie Edna Smith. The program was en titled, “The Twelve Calendar ; Months.” The Association was attended by many mem . bers of the church. ; Sunday School opened Sun , day with the Supt. in charge. , The lesson was taught by Bro. J. D. Rawls and reviewed by Bro. M. C. Lamb. The regular meeting of the [ Home Mission was held Sun day with the president, Sis Nora Stubbs, presiding. Offer ’ ing was $3.55; Sis. B.
