Mt. Ridge News Mrs. Annie Lee Hardy Reporter Sunday was the regular pastoral Day at Mt. Ridge, with R. v. N. L. Bender, de livering a soul-stirring mes sa e which everyone enjoyed. The Holy Communion was ob served. Pulpit guests were Rev. Ellis Scott and Rev. Mansfield Proctor. Immediately after service the Women sponsored a Wom an’s Day Program, with Mrs. Dorothy Cannon, guest speak er. Her message was timely and spiritual. Thanks is ex tended to the churches that participated on the program. T< ' ion. r r a i s e d was $102 50. The p r o c e e d s will benefit the church. Mr. Varnado Collier and daughter from Jackson. Miss, and his sister from Nebraska, vlsi cl recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar King, Sr., and in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harvev Collier: also --the homes of Mr. Frank and Mr. Booker Lee Hardy. Funeral services were held at Mt. Ridge Saturday, Oct ober 12, for the late Mr. N. C. Mayers, son of Mrs. Mandv Mayers, agent for the Missis sippi Enterprise. The deceas ed was a member of Kone Hill M. B. Church. The Eu logy was given by His pas tor, Rev. B. D. Davis. PulDit guest was Rev. Ellis Scott. Survivors include his mother; six sisters; three brothers, a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the Mt. Ridge Cemetery. Peoples Fun eral Home was in charge. Pres ent were her daughter, Mrs. Ina Cathron of Campton, Cali fornia, her daughter, Mrs. Al tha Ross and daughter, Glor ia, of Jackson; another daugh ter, Mrs. Geneva Jackson and children, Pelahatchie, Miss., and son, E. J. King and his son, also of Jackson. Mrs. King received many valuable gifts. Sunday visitors in the home of Mrs. Mandy Mayers were her sister, Mre. Rubbie Wil liams, her daughter, Miss Fannie Ruth Mayors, son, Mr. Willie M. Lock, all of Gulf port, Miss.; daughter, Mrs. Essie Mae and children of Jackson; another daughter, Mrs. Lela M. Gipson and son of Pelahatchie; aunts, Mrs. Halena Mayers, Mrs. S. J. Mayers and two of her neph ews, L. C. and H. C. Jones and Tom Hobson, all of Bran don. A tasty dinner was served these relatives. Mrs. Oscar King, Sr. and daughter. Mrs. Carthron of California, visited in the home of Mrs. Clifton Marchell, Mon day evening. They also visit ed in the home of Mrs. Irene H. Batt. Mrs. Fannie L. Hardy spent the weekend in the home ol her parents, Mr. and Mrs Frank Hardy. Rev. and Mrs. Ellis Scott visited recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Booker Lee Hardy.
